if you're using a VPN client which changes your operating systems default gateway, all traffic on your system thats wanting to access the internet is ported that way. Now the problem with using this setup is when your VPN goes down (disconnects) all internet is automatically ported over your standard gateway (your ISP).
'settings > connection manager: No proxy' is your systems default gateway.
To stop that from happening you can specify other gateways in the connection manager, for example the interface that your VPN binds to and disable 'No Proxy' and this will prevent JDownloader from using your operating systems base connection.
