JDownloader auto creates .backup file in case JDownloader fails to load the list. With help of .backup you can later import/rescue the list again. For example list is too long and requires more memory than allowed, then loading will fails -> auto creates .backup file -> empty list. After changing allowed memory you can import that list again, see
