You need to remove your firewall as well. You don't need one if you've one in your router.
Did you check whether there were no remaining remnants of your virus software? Some viruses are very difficult to remove and some virus vendors have a special removal tool for it. Also use a registry cleaner. You need to restart your computer after you've removed all the garbage.
