Default SMB Linux

I can access my network folders using files viewer, I can also access them through the web browser using smb. For some reason, jDownloader canÂ’t see my Synology network folders. IÂ’ve been trying to solve this issue for almost two weeks.

In the picture below, you can see that I don't have a choice to select a network folder to save my files

I can access my network folders using files viewer very easily, I can also access them through the web browser using smb.

Hi,

How did you install JD?
Please check if your issue is similar to this one:

Thanks for your help:)
I've tried AUR, Snap, script x64. Unfortunately, none of them work. I wanted to use Linux as an alternative to windows but my main daily driver is macOS. I have now given up after almost 3 weeks of trying.

You did not mount your drives properly - please read the following articles:
wiki.samba.org/index.php/Mounting_samba_shares_from_a_unix_client
thomas-krenn.com/en/wiki/Mounting_a_Windows_Share_in_Linux

After following the thomas-krenn.com instructions, JDownloader can now see my Synology network drive.

I'm curious why Kodi can see my Synology if I mount the network drive the normal way. would it be possible to update JDownloader to see the network without jumping through hoops or is it a JDownloader limitation? because now I have to figure out how to automount mnt. Linux is not for the faint-hearted

Normal setup: Kodi has no problem seeing the network drive

Kodi

The only way JDownloader can see the Synology is via "/mnt"

Thank you so much, I'm so grateful for you pointing me in the right direction to get JDownloader working

No because the integration in your explorer is via gvfs/gnome virtual file system or a custom samba client.
Java running on Mac/linux does not support samba out of the box so it won't work without mounting.

Surprisingly (this is no blame on you!) you're the first user with this issue.
If you think it would be useful, we could create a guide for our knowledge base which could be helpful for others in the future.

It would be a great idea because it would have saved me from pulling out my hair over the last 3 weeks

I've tried numerous forums and Linux YouTubers, either they didn't know or I never got an answer

If screenshots are unnecessary (terminal usage), a quick description of the steps you had to do would be good^^

Please post a log and check the ownership of that folder via:
Code:
ls -la /path
