fix works for 95% of youtube videos, but there's always that one pesky video remaining stuck with "File not found".

I had a couple of them too.

Even though my settings are for MP4 only in the YT plugins settings I noticed some turn to webm and mkv files which I don't like and wanted so I had to reload the links from YT and redownload in mp4 format with no problems .

The others that said File Not Found .I reset them to zero and they downloaded fine..

The problem is still there

I restarted a lot of downloads since the update.

Around 10% of downloads give the file not found error, sometimes the error comes immediately after you start the download.

But the bigger problem for me is it will try to download a lower quality resolution video instead because it thinks the 1080p is unavailable.

It's easy to see this happening because I know about this behavior so I re-add all the file not found and offline links. I don't delete the links so I can see that a lot of the links I re-add don't have the red highlight. That means jdownloader changed the 1080p to 720p or something else and it would've downloaded the lower quality videos.

Please be patient - we aren't only working on the YT plugin and JD is not a software only made to download from YT.
In the meantime you might want to use alternatives which are especially built to dl from YT.

Feel free to push if you do not get a reply within 7 days.

That reset doesn't work, most likely it downloaded a lower quality variant.

Jdownloader has a built in setting that will download the next best variant it finds if the one you chose is unavailable. It is opt in and you need to opt out in the advanced setting if you don't want it to do that. The opt out doesn't work so right now there is no way to prevent it if you value quality.

This is driving me crazy, there are so many file not found that I have to keep re-adding them to truly reset it. The ratio seems to be 10% of the links will error so out of 100 links I have to re-add it 10 times to download everything in the quality I want.

Your recent posts sound a little bit rude.
I just want to clarify some things for you:

• Yes we are listening to your feedback
• Yes there are- and will always be some bugs in JDownloader just like in any other software and we are working on fixing as many as possible
• JDownloader is a free open source software with free support [but no 24/7 support]
• We are only a small team. Feel free to join and contribute code.
• "It's done when it's done"
• Stop making a scandal out of things which have been in place for a long time aka the 'quality downgrade'. Those mechanics are in place for a reason.
• Your high frequency of reports in this thread will absolutely not push us to work on them with higher priority

@minixbox: And once more I ask for logs so I know WHY your files are reported as offline. I need to know if it's caused by yet another change of YT rolling out slowely or maybe some servers are still serving old stuff and that's no longer compatible with latest version and I would have to support old/new stuff by YT. To be sure, I will add support for old stuff as well, as I don't know if both are still in use or not.

Also I did check the variant downgrade thing and found the cause. There are two places for this to happen, only one did check for the setting I told you. Will be fixed with next update and when disabled, no auto variant selection will take place. Thank you for your patience

The links do expire very fast, at least in this case, and then fail with 403 response code, resulting in host problem. Don't know if this is issue at server side or yet another new change slowly rolling out
also log contains

which resulted in false *File not found*. will be fixed with next update

also yt-dlp can download it easily.

@rezad: I have not checked yet what other *hidden door* yt-dlp takes but it's much less pain/time to just add your account. We will check why other tools can access it without being logged in but it won't be high priority as explaind, just add account and you're good

Hi Folks

Is that possible to create an audio selector for youtube video ?

When i download multiaudio video from youtube, i get all the time the english track instead of french which is my pc language.

example : **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
When i play it from youtube site, french is played.
But if JD download it, i got english.

This issue happens ever there are more than one audio track.

Maybe an audio selector should be added if possible...
Or a proposal to dl the video with the language needed.

I'm trying to download this video from youtube:

I know it's available in at least 6 different resolutions; however, I can only download it in 1080p. Here's the log:

I googled a solution and came up with a couple of results from this forum. The general recommendation was to go to the Plugins section and tinker around with the settings there. I did just that but it didn't resolve the problem. I still can't select the resoltion I need.

Is there something I'm missing here?

OK, let me give you an example. When I download a video from pornhub, JD provides me with a number of download options (e.g. 4320p, 2160p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p. etc.):

@Gizmonoid: Youtube uses Variant System, see Variant column and then you can drop/down or rightclick and change/add Variant.

In JDownloader you see the "Variant" column where it states resolution/fps and such information, there you can click into and then change it. alternative rightclick on the link and there you will find sub menu to change the variant or add another one.

(My three cents after reading recent messages: pornhub plugin might be in a need to be fixed, there nothing friendly in adding ALL links, not just those desired by the user - hopefully variants are not limited to internals of YouTube plugin and I guess pronhub is popular enough to earn upgrades)

The pornhub plugin doesn't have variant support and it isn't planned either.
If you want to pre-select a specific quality for pornhub, go to Settings -> Plugins -> pornhub.com

The variant column is only shown if it is enabled and at least one package is expanded since it is only providing usable information for single items, not for packages
Expand that package by clicking on the plus symbol at the left side.
If you can't see the variant column afterwards, rightclick into any column and enable the Variant column to see it.

Having a problem downloading Youtube videos. In the Linkgrabber I choose the 1080p variant, then send to Downloads all is fine until it comes to downloading it at which point the size changes and it downloads the 360p version (I haven't even got the 360p variant enabled in the plugin settings)

Having the same problem, it is downloading in 360p all videos.
