Default Feature request: Over ride max simultaneous downloads per site depending on file size

Hi,

Good day! Can't live without this wonderful app, so thanks a ton to the developers.

I have a feature request if I may please. From my experience I have seen that if there are huge files being downloaded, smaller ones are held back for longer times. I am talking purely as a free user of the host perspective.

Though host allows unlimited simulaneous, I limit myself to 5 per host to be fair. With this limitation assuming huge files (around 500mb) and being free user, usual take up to 1 hour to download.

Was always curious if the download behaviour be changed so that small files (if we can set the file size somewhere) to start off even if the limit per host is reached on jd. With ofcourse another setting which defines max per host + max squeeze in files, would be a great addition to the already wonderful app.

If this is already there and I am not aware, then please guide me. If not, any questions, please ask me. If not possible too, I totally understand.

Hi,

Use a Packagizer rule to force start downloads in your defined filesize range.
This will only work for items added after creating that rule!

Hi,

Been long time since I wrote and it is always you to my rescue. Great extension by the way!

I tried working with it and see that does what I want partially but I cannot set any limit on how many simultaneous small size files I want. Can I?

Thanks for your prompt reply and help as always.

@reddy.shyam:
I'm sorry but it's not possible to set such a limit (depending on file size). Why not simply allow more simultaneous downloads? In the end, either your bandwidth is saturated with x concurrent downloads or not. When there is still bandwidth left, I would simply increase max downloads?!
Or maybe I did not fully understand what you are trying to achieve ? Can you please try to explain better/again

Hi @jiaz,

Thanks for chipping in. I am on unlimited download plan so no issues there. My sole interest is not to hijack the servers (I know I sound melodramatic :D ) but as a free user I believe I shouldn't be exhausting server resources, hence my request.

No worries at all, will manage the way it works currently. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your feedback. I don't think that such micro management should be required If you can easily *hijack* a server with some downloads, then the configuration should be tightened
