Default odysee.com original file vs 1080p?

I try to see to download this :

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

in jdownloader the "best" quality odysee plugin get the same exact file as the 1080p option.

but in odysee website there are two 1080p file.
one is the 1080p re-encoded one and the original one.

is there any setting that I can set to get the original video?
the "Video DownloadHelper" addon sees the original file video file separate from 1080p which it finds as a hls stream.

Hi,
I was unable to find any higher version than the 1080p 78,42MiB one.

Please provide some more example links and also post the direct .m3u8 URLs captured via "VideoDownloadHelper" that you think deliver a higher/original quality.

My guess is they are recompressing files over time for archival?

My original Morgoth - Millenniyule 2022 was 9GB, the redownload was much smaller and I had always had the plugin set to best.

Its quite a crunch as they only use AVC, not like youtube where they finalize on more efficient codecs.

I think odysee used to support original file download too and now it doesnt?

I remember clearly that this video's original version was bigger size than the encoded 1080p one and the visual artifact were in 1080p and original one didn't.

We haven't done any big changes on the odysee.com plugin for a long time so either something has changed serverside or this videos' original version is not available anymore(?)

Yes it still does.
The plugin first looks for any official download (if allowed by the uploader) and then picks the (stream) quality based on user selection.

Can you still get that bigger version when using other tools to download (e.g. open source project "yt-dlp")?

I can see it. Mods can view links in this forum.
I can't find any other stream source than this one:
Code:
player.odycdn.com/api/v4/streams/tc/intel-arc-gpu's-amd-nvidia-watch-out!/d79f2312976349a4dbc7ebff4837ac6ea203f593/50bcaf72b82f7260816f82ee1d12b9a230abd40093566c7659c0568f21b167561f637262d13e91cba053448a135d8b28/v0.m3u8
(Link may be invalid for you aqs it may be valid only temporary and/or IP-bound.)

1- that is what I meant.
2- the first point. I meant odysee servers dont have that video.
3- I dont think so as I think the server doesnt have it.

I think jdownloader sees that actual file as I tested with another link that was recently uploaded and the original file size if shown.

so the issue is not with jdownloader.

this issue can be closed.

JDownloader sets the filesize provided by the odysee.com API.
The final filesize can be different from what you see first when adding new links.

I'll mark this thread as solved.
It will remain open for any new question/information.
