Hello,
I have an issue that after a few hours JD freezes completely. Only the program shut down is possible. When it freezes the download still continues and finishes. 24.03.19 23.30.25 <--> 25.03.19 03.59.55 jdlog://9483776935451/ I have a new installed High Sierra 10.13.6 8GBRAM Java 8-Update 201 Last edited by Silizium; 25.03.2019 at 03:50. |

Your JDownloader is only allowed to use max 512mb heap
Open your app with rightclick context menu and show content. There you should find a plist.info and edit it. There you should find Xmx512m and replace with Xmx1g In case you need help with this, I can offer help via Teamviewer. Just contact us via support@jdownloader.org

Can't find Xmx512m in:
/Applications/JDownloader 2/JDownloader2.app/Contents/Info.plist |

also no 512m?
Check for a .vmoptions file and edit it with texteditor

Thanks for the feedback. Modify it to Xmx1g (to allow max 1GB) or Xmx2g (for 2GB) and restart JDownloader.
In case you still have the freezing issues, please report back

Thank you, will test it.

You can verify change in About dialog of JDownloader. The memory line shows stats about memory usage and the last number should reflect the changes in vmoptions

Can you please check if there is no hidden/pending dialog somewhere waiting for user input/blocking the main window.
Can you please zip the logs folder (you can find JDownloader folder in about dialog) and send it to support@jdownloader.org In case there has been deadlock/freeze in gui, the log should contain further infos.

Thanks. The logs shows hanging/slow/freeze in graphics stack of macos. Anything special about your setup? multiple graphic cards? desktops / monitors?
The gui complete frozen and no longer reacting or still updating download/speed stats and just not reacting to clicks?

Complete frozen. No updating down or speed stats but still ends a ongoing download.

At the moment I'm pretty clueless. Logs indicate that the freeze comes from within MacOS graphic stack but I can't tell/don't know what might causing this.
Can you reproduce the issue? Maybe after wakeup of computer from sleep or standby of monitor?

The only regularity I can see at this moment is hide or unhide (macos command h) When its in the background it seems to happen more but I have to watch it more carefully to see the regularitys.
PS: My computer never sleeps, he only switches off the monitor and asks for password after 15min. Last edited by Silizium; 02.04.2019 at 16:34. |

Thanks for feedback. Yes it would help a lot to find a way to reproduce the issue or at least know how to make it happen more regularly.

I switched to: "GraphicUserInterface: 3D" and now it seems ok.

strange because this option is for windows only gg
I'm sure it's just a coincidence and will happen again :(

But I switched also the Theme but before I restart JD I reconsider and switched it to the previous again. So it loaded the active one again into Cache?
How ever it works currently. |

What theme are you using now? I guess the theme change might have done the trick.
Thanks for the feedback and great to hear that it works (till now)

The problem is still occurring. I changed the Theme to default. Lets see if it is a problem with JD_Plain.

Ok, I think the problem is in JD_Plain. I run it with default theme now and it's working already foe days without problems.

Better wait and do some more testing. Still not convinced that it's caused by theme
But thanks for the feedback!

It's quite obvious. With the default theme JD runs since days without problems. But maybe the download from the JD_Plain was corrupted so I want to download it again. Which files do I need to delete?
|

|
||||
|
||||
The file isn't corrupted, else java would even load it and the updates are digitally signed/verified
of course you can do fresh installation (without loosing settings,links,accounts). Close JDownloader and open the JDownloader installation folder and delete the file Core.jar and the folders tmp and update and start JDownloader again. It will then update itself to latest available version

Thank you. So then there is no need to erase it. Probably there is a programming error in the JD_Plain Theme.

That's not the case here. MacOS is very prone to GUI/Graphic stack issues between java/macos issues. my long time favorite is bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8133783

Ok, today morning JD was frozen with Default Theme. I resign this case.

Could you please send me zipped logs folder again? Maybe I can see some hints what might be causing them as they seem to happen quiete often for you.

"JD_Plain" often freeze
"Default" sometimes freeze "Standard" never freeze I think I have only newer logs without freeze. ("Standard" Theme) |

|
||||
|

Thanks for taking time and testing different themes.
When *Standard* never causes issues, then the other themes seems to make use of any graphic stack method that causes the freeze. Something we can't change as the theme/look and feel is outside our reach.
