jdownloader.jar = launcher with min requirement to connect to the update network
core.jar = core functions of jd

the revisions wont be the same, nor will the checksums from older downloaded versions.

Don't fight the system, use it to your advantage. :]

Hi raztoki.

I updated both the "fresh" installer and my older installer.
The interesting part is that the revisions were in fact the same, just different core.jar and jdownloader.jar file sizes (and checkhums of course)

Both had:
Core: 43932
Launcher: 5217
Appwork utilities: 3487
Browser: 43930
Update: 960

The only different part is the "about" was that the:
fresh (and updated) install said: "extraction: 7ZipJBindings (16.02-2.01/Windows-amd64)
Zip4J
Original (and updated) install: "extraction: 7ZipJBindings (16.02-2.01)
Zip4J

Both installations were always on a Windows 7 x64 machine.

I had deleted my original post because I guess it was too convoluted, but I really don't understand why they are different after updating them both at the same time.
I'm 100% sure I downloaded my original version from jdowloader.org. I'm just curious why they have different file sizes if they are in fact (presumably) the same revision.

Some additional information of developer Jiaz:
Quote:
Our update system does support delta-updates(changes only) on JAR files and thus:
  • size and checksum are allowed to be different after the update of such files
  • the content of the JAR files is updated (only add/remove/modify the changes inner files)
  • the update system verifies the content of the JAR file
the about dialog only shows the used native extraction library(Windows-amd64) when extraction extension is enabled

Thank you so much pspzockerscene for relaying that information.
It makes sense now.
I was just curious if I had a legit copy after these years or if it had been tampered with.

Thank you again.

If you want you could delete the following files/folders and restart JD to let it verify/update your installation:
Core.jar
tmp
update
