Default [EventScripter] download opus streams from YouTube with .opus extension

Hi,

Is there an option to download opus streams from YouTube with .opus extension instead of .ogg ?
If not, can it be added in the future ?
Because Winamp can't play such files, but it can play them fine when renamed with .opus extension (using in_opus.dll plugin).

Thank you.

Hi,
that's not possible out of the box.
However you could do it via EventScripter script:
Convert file after download via EventScripter or if only rename is needed, use a Packagizer Rule.

EDIT

Linked Packagizer.

You can replace the extension using packagizer.

I couldn't find any other threads so resurrecting this one. Why does JDownloader 2 save files with Opus audio stream as OGG files? .ogg is for OGG Vorbis correct? I have 4,994 audio files that have Opus encoding but saved as OGG files.

Are those maybe older links or are you using an old version of some kind of EventScripter script which is setting that wrong file-extension?
...or some kind of Packagizer rule is setting a wrong file-extension?
...or the links in your downloadlist are very old?

That has been changed since mid 2022 and is working fine here with default settings.

Why did it used to happen in 2022?

Side Q: If these are in fact encoded as Opus then is it safe to mass rename these files from .ogg to .opus or is there still some OGG aspect to the file?

That was a mistake. Mistakes happen.

Yes it is safe.

You can check the file contents e.g. using the free open source tool "MediaInfo": mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

@kanishknishar
Check your selected audio variant.
You might have selected "Vorbis" as audio variant. For Vorbis ogg would be correct.

If you are unsure, please provide a screenshot of your selected variant and a log.

I can't have logs because these files were from 2022. I did try renaming the OGG files to Opus but they seem to retain their OGG attributes on MediaInfo:

Code:

Complete name : C:\Users\Lance\Desktop\A. Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 3 (2002) (152kbit_Opus).opus
Format : Ogg

So this is an older item from your downloadlist?
Information about your saved files won't help.

As said / again:
If you are downloading new YT videos now, this issue should not happen anymore.

You are free to either rename the previously downloaded files on your HDD or re-download them.

I did try renaming it to Opus as seen above in the MediaInfo but it is still reported as an OGG file. Do you know why this is happening?

Maybe it is an ogg file.
Are never newer YT downloads reported the same or differently?

I tried uploads from the last 6 months and all of them seem to be AAC:

I tried with a different search and now there were some Opus files but most were AAC. Does this mean YT hasn't switched to Opus for all videos?

Side-question: What does it mean if the audio stream is Opus but file type is still OGG as is the case with the MediaInfo I uploaded earlier.

Opus is the audio stream and ogg the container. Changing the file-extension won't change the content of the files and there is no need for us to change this since it's still the opus codec.

About your screenshot:
Looks perfectly normal for default settings.

If you want a different audio variant, do the following:
Rightclick on any YT audio variant -> youtube.com -> Change audio variant
You can also change the preferred default codecs in the YT settings.
