Default Forum-Problem: Mail Notifications

In each notification the link to the post I get notified of ends with
… goto=newpost
So, when I click on that link, I will not necessarily see the post I should have been notified of. I will see the latest post.

Expected behavior would be to send me the link, pointing to the post quoted in the email message. Don't know if that can be changed?

And a question:
In every notification it reads:
… but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.

What does this mean?

A) As soon as I'm not logged in, I won't receive any notifications of posts in threads I subscribe to at all?
or
B) Does this only refer to that specific thread?

@StefanM: the notification system will inform you that there are new post in a thread (based on your settings daily or weekly) but will NOT send you another mail for the same thread. You've been informed about changes in a thread and there will be no subsequent mails for the same thread until you've logged in, read the new posts

Not only you would be annoyed to receive a new mail for each post but it would also rate the e-mail server very fast as *spam*.

Most likely this will go to the *new post* that you have not yet read. When you read a topic/thread but click on that link afterwards, of course it will go to the last post you read, which is most likely the last one in thread. Try it on a thread that you have not read before clicking the link

Tried that already before:
Somebody answered to a post I wrote in the scripts-thread. Clicking on that link some time later took me to the latest post. And I had to go back several posts to find the answer, even though I had not read them before.

I did not get notified of https://board.jdownloader.org/showpo...5&postcount=56

Even thought my question had been overlooked.
Just found mgpai's reply by accident.

So, I had not read it before and I was logged in all day.
But no email notification

Tagging this thread as SOLVED is a bit premature...

View First Unread (at the top of the threads frame) is something completely different from the links in notification mails.

Problems have NOT been SOLVED!

I haven't been able to find any bugs in the forum notification system so far.
I've been subscribed to a lot of threads in the past and always got the notification emails.
I'm now subscribed to this one for testing.

I can't reproduce the problem you're having.

Here is a screenshot of mails I got from subscribed threads about an hour ago:

@StefanM: the information is currently stored in cookies.
I will switch to database and then should work more reliable as the thread read time is more accurate
see vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=172692
