I am running 64bit Win 7 with newest Firefox and newest JDwonload 2.

In the past I enabled Browser Loop detection by setting

Browser CaptachSolver.Enabled=True

and it worked successfully.

However after a while I must have changed something accidentially.

Now when I try to download something e.g. from share-online or uploaded.to the a captcha pops up but with longer text strings instead of the former short numbers.

How can I get the short number captchas back?

Check Settings-Advanced Settings-BrowserCaptchaSolver.browserloopenabled
In case you've setup a Google Account, Browser loop is not used.
Nothing changed in JDownloader. It is up to Google what kind of Recaptcha you will get.
