Extracting txt,doc,rtf etc links automatically and grab them
Extracting txt,doc,rtf etc links automatically and grab them would be useful. Example link:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** |

Nice suggestion i think.
The question is now if all users would like to have this function and if it should be always enabled or you have to enable it by option. Devs, pls comment;)

rtf and doc are closed formats (you cannot read them easily) with txt files it would be possible
its already working with container files

The real need is for saved web pages ....
.. for example, I save the download web pages locally (so I can go back later if I need info, comments or passwords).
NOW ... if I want to get the links, I have to open the page in notepad, select all and copy it, linkgrabber takes it from there. BETTER ... would be if I could just point to a page (or pages, like the UNRAR module) and jD would open the HTML file and process the links. Does that make sense >?< Cheers! ... W ... |

@Wheezer
JD is already able to parse links out of unsupported sites (sites which we don't have a decrypter for). Isn't this what you wanted to do ? GreeZ pspzockerscene

It's a good idea, but I would make this feature an option that can be enabled/disabled.
RTF is a tagged text format, so it's relatively easy to parse for http links. I would exclude .doc though, as it is really a closed, proprietary format. |

@pspzockerscene ...
Yes, I use the VIEW SOUCE option in IE to selcect the page source and parse that. That gets many links that would be missed if I just selected all on the visable page. To be safe I typically SAVE the web page as HTML, thus I have an file image of the page with all info, links, etc. The point here would be the ability to process this type of file (and also text or other open format external files that contain links). Especially multple external files of links. So how about this .... What would work well is a THIRD button on the Linkgrabber page, one to PARSE FILE (or mabe READ FILE). Hit that and a dialog would come up letting you pick one (many?) files. (Like the UNRAR ot HJSPLIT addon dialogs) Each them would be individually loaded, parsed and valid links entered into the link list. The methods to do that look to be already in place (select dialog, open file, parse contents, add to link list, etc). It would just be nice to have them assembled into one function. Does it make sense now ? Cheers! ... W ... Last edited by Wheezer; 28.08.2009 at 01:22. |

Or just consider a text file as another type of container...no new button needed.
I would include all types of text files, also XML files. |

@remi ...
It would be nice if they included the option to parse external text, web page or XML files into jD. Best example is that you browse to a page with links that you want. Just save the page locally as HTML. Then when you are done, open them with jD and you have your links. That way even if you are on another machine ans see/save pages you want to get, you can process them later in jD. Hopefully this will be seen and they will add it to an upcoming release. Cheers! ... Yes indeed, jD can already do this with URLs but not with files on your disk, except a few container formats.
I think this could be implemented very easily. |

Hopefully someone other than us is reading this post, and they decide to add the feature.
I'm hoping soon. Cheers! ... W ... |

I've read somewhere in the forum that you need to bring a dev in the mood. Only, I don't know how you do that

Hmmm ... maybe some wine, flowers and a movie might help?
But, there is a limit to how much I'll do to get a developer in the mood. (Unless she is cute though) Cheers! ... W ... |
