You could setup the VPN to only do the DNS and not download traffic.
Either your VPN opens a http/socks proxy or adds a virtual network, both can be setup in JDownloader-Settings-Connections, but you cannot make JDownloader use a browser vpn extension

I am unable to access even with a hosts file. Get an SSL handshake error. What exactly do you have in your hosts file?

Please add a better problem description. Can you access keep2share.cc via browser? Are you using a VPN? Is keep2share.cc generally blocked by indian ISPs? -psp-
