Default JD should grab embedded links

When I press ctrl+a and then ctrl+c on a page, JD only grabs links which are typed openly. But many pages/blogs have links embedded into pics or hypertext.

E.g.

**External links are only visible to Support Staff**

or

**External links are only visible to Support Staff**Download JD

When copying whole page JD doesn't recognize those kind of links. You have to right click and copy link location of each file which is a long boring task...

Another issue related to this topic:sometimes i see links with discontinuous hypertext like:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

If you right click and copy link location JD correctly gets the link but when it comes to copying the page JD gets what excatly appears on screen, the broken discontinuous link...

Please consider adding embedded link support in JD.

@pardus
If you have forefox, use flashgot + JD to get those links, if not just copy the whole html soucecode of the page!

ever checked what is in clippboard after you do ctrl+a you will see there is ONLY what you see, not the html sourcecode, therefore jd cannot find anything that is NOT in clipboard. what you want is already possible but you need to copy the sourcode of the page

Cool

It also helps when you add the URL of the page to the Linkgrabber.

Actually clipboard copies links as well, but then it depends on what program that we use to see, for notepad that is true, but SeaMonkey composer for example, will get the links as well.

I use Firefox, this is what I copied:

This is the result of paste into composer:

This is the source in composer:

How do you explain that? Don't say that I copied the source!

then the copy does also copy more to another clipboard section that the composer can use, or maybe composer can know where it comes from (that can be saved) and therefore cuts the sourcecode of the page too but the clipboard usable for jd/notepad/wordpad only contains the visible text

I'm not surprised by the SeaMonkey composer trick. The Internet browser at the core of the SeaMonkey suite uses the same rendering engine and application platform as its sibling Mozilla Firefox.

Can you repeat this trick with another browser than FF?

Of course... I have just tested it, copy the same thing from IE, start composer, paste it, and it grab the embedded link as well. Lotus Symphony can do the same, I am sure many rich editor can do that too.

But I understand if JD can only do a simple text copying form clipboard, no fancy stuff there.

Cool

If Composer and Lotus Symphony (this sounds like music ) can find the source code in the clipboard, then jD should be able to find it as well, because I don't see any collaboration between M$, Mozilla and IBM.

This is something nice to investigate, because I'm convinced many people add incomplete links (as text) to jD's Linkgrabber.

Take these situations.I just want to get rapidshare links. What is the shortest way to get them? If i copy page source JD will also grab hotfile mirrors and other unnecessary http links as well.Just selecting the group and copying isn't recognized or corrupted. So,copying each link is the only way without using a 3rd party program..

Actually, long before opening this thread,i had overcome this problem with supplement of another program.Since 3rd party programs like flashgot and seamonkey were mentioned here i will too. It's FreeRapid Downloader.A java based program similar with JD.Although JD is my main downloader and better than FRD on many aspects,I use it as supplementary at such times. It recognizes embedded and discontinuous links which JD does not.I use it to grab such links and then copy the uncovered links with JD to download.A mutual work..

Both JD and FRD is similar java based programs. So JD can (and should) do whatever FRD does...

thanks for informing about this *VERY NICE* feature. that way one can add links much easier, even if they are shortened

I was pretty sure you, as a great programmer, would find it.

Will it also work for selections of web pages?

Also thanks to tony2long for discovering this feature in other tools.

what you mean? selection of webpages?
the new feature makes it possible if you select text from browser (at the moment only firefox tested, others will follow) jd will not see the normal readable text, it will see the html sourcecode of it. so no longer has to worry about shortened urls.

Cool

With 'selection' I mean a part of the web page.

I suppose it will work with other browsers as well, because it even works in IE.

This is a breakthrough, because some customers who aren't using FF no longer need to search for an alternative for Flashgot.

I finally finished the new clipboardhandler.
I tested it with
Linux: firefox, konquerer, filebrowser
Windows: firefox, iexplorer,notepad,word, filebrowser
Mac: to be tested

in linux there is a firefox bug (h__ps://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385421), but i wrote a workaround that works in 99% of all cases.
