Unhappy Unable to resume Youtube downloads

So it has been a while since I used JDownloader and I just opened it up today when a pop up for JDownloader 2 shows. I then downloaded and install JDownloader 2 from there. Later while downloading videos from Youtube, I realized that I couldnt resume them after being stopped. At first I figure it was just a conflict with the original JDownloader so I uninstalled that. The problem still persisted though so I tried some other solutions such as giving the download destination folder total control and making sure they arent read only. But I still cant seem to solve the problem.

Also, I just want to point out that I hadnt encounter this error before with the original version of JDownloader.

Any help please ?

Please provide a logfile (Menu -> Help -> Create log and give logID)
Resume works fine. So must be something specific with your computer/isp/xy.

Question webm problems

I do have 2 entries for webm on all resolutions (i.e. 720p, 480p, etc.). The second entry works. The first doesn't. Then the one that doesn't work says that I have an old version of the plugin even though I have the latest installed. Shouldn't there be just a single entry for each resolution?
Another weirred thing is that after I downloaded a working video from the second webm link, then the link the previously didn't worked now works. I.e. both webm links then work.

So there are 2 problems
- two webm entries instead of one. In the case there is a difference between the two, there should be labels.
- download needs several retries until it works. This happens only on the first download after the start of Jdownloader 2. Subsequent webm downloads work at the first try.

it is the latest Jdownloader 2 on Linux Mint 17.
Youtube video I tested with 480p : **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Resume works in some files and doesn't work in most files. It doesn't work especially with the long (>5min) videos which we need JDownloader essentially for.

Doesn't work in any file here. Same 1080p 3-4 gb file resumes properly in orbit but not in jd. One difference is that flashgot sends link to orbit while jd2 grabs link itself.

Looks like the "256kbps m4a audio only available as a separate audio file" has been fixed by one of the updates, thank you!

I enabled most low-res FLV, MP4 and Webm formats in JD2 (beta) settings, just to be sure.

In 2012 I downloaded a 240p FLV with 128kbps AAC audio from the same link.

Is there a way to enable "all available formats", to see what's available there?

Is there an "original video" option somewhere? Where does the 256kbps audio file come from?

Dear Developers,

Firstly, thank you for your effort and support.

I added and grabbed all videos to JDownload Downloads tabs from a Youtube channel. Any video's Youtube URL (etc. watch=.....) cannot see (right click -> Properties -> Show Download URLs). Instead JDownloader show only playlist link (**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**).

Not at all an issue with JD2, but intrestingly, youtube seems to be lowering the quality of older uploads.
For youtu.be/Us2eGvqwMik, Youtube web interface only offers 240p, JDownloader offers "360p" mp4_360_aac96 that is actually 288p, but in 2013 the video was available at "360p" 288p with a much higher video bitrate.

- 128k audio is only available in the 240p dash video (and dash webm), the "360p" (actually 288p) mp4_360_aac96 only has 96kbps audio.

Gotta learn remuxing.

Downloads restart back to 0% when reaching 100% instead of Demuxing/Converting.

I have tried searching for a resolve to this issue via google search & the forums. I'm unsure if this problem has happened previously on the first jDownloader but worded differently. I do apologise if this has been posted before, I would appreciate being pointed to where, so I can resolve this. Anyway.

- When searching for a fix, I did also learn to enable java & javaw through the firewall and such. Which didn't resolve anything. Not too sure what it achieved, but I guess it was important to do for jDownloader.

I have tried fiddling around with certain things to try and resolve this though I don't seem to get a permanent fix, at least that doesn't require my intervention to complete the download. Specifically running just 1 download a time, 1 chunk a time. Through to 8 Downloads a time running a max of 16 chunks per Dl. And various ranges in between. I have the Youtube plugin set up to pull only Audio at anything 128kbit or less. Most files tend to be M4A 128kbits.

When downloading, the package/file will sit at about 70kb/s - 110kb/s (Average) and when it reaches about 98% - 100% the download will go to run the Demuxer. Instead it restarts the download from 0%, Filesize: 0 Bytes.
I only download audio from Youtube, most of the time I don't get this issue, other packages will run at the full speed or an equally spreaded download average depending on how many downloads I run. it's rather random, I can't seem to find a pattern to what triggers it. I did at first notice it only with smaller files roughly 8MB in size or under. Not all small files but some.
Then I noticed it when downloading certain videos from this users channel -
( **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** - For a link reference. ) which were roughly 80MB - 150MB in size. Again not all packages had this issue. The only thing I did notice is more often than not it would be the mixes that are the older years that seemed to get this issue. Whether that's actually relevant or not I don't know. I did ponder if maybe it's to do with Youtube's servers, with the older files that have been uploaded.

There is a work around that I have but it's a little tedious, but none the less it works. Is when the download reaches 97% - 99% is R-Click & disable the download, then re-enable it*, causing it to carry on where it left, with a download speed spike of about 1.8MB/s. (My max download speed is 2.27MB/s roughly) which then causes the download the finish and then the Demuxer runs and the file is finished/completed.

*Another observation is, at random too, some files that I disable will suddenly jump back 6% - 10%/Current downloaded filesize correlates with that jump backwards also (For example: Disabled at 98%, suddenly skips back to 92.4%). But again not all files/packages do this. Many will stay at the % the package got disabled at or close enough.

The other work around, regarding the low download speed which half fixes this completely is, when I set my max chunks to 14 - 16, the package/file will run at my full download speed, rather than the 90kb/s average. 16 Chunks and a max of 4 download connections seems to work best with these packages that have the issue. I tend to have them sit at about 400kb/s - 700kb/s evenly-ish. Where-as my general download settings would be 2 chunks & 1 - 9 max download connections. Depending on the sort of file sizes the batch will consist of. Doing the math, for small files, 250kb/s per download on average works rather nicely chewing through them.

I'm not too sure whether there's a resolution to the download auto resetting when it goes to run the demux. I thought it would be worth describing it to the forums to see if anyone knows about this issue also?
- I mean it's not really preventing anything, though it'd be nice to know if I could even be able to set a script/command that if the download restarts more than 2 times, to 'skip download' so then when my download batch is done, I can clean the finished links and focus on the troublesome ones. The only niggle really is that must waste a lot of data in downloads, As they will continue resetting at 100% endlessly. Again, sometimes they will randomly decide to Demux at 100% and finish after X many retry's(Without intervention).

At the same time I also thought it'd be useful for anyone with this issue looking for small fixes, to have some. Thanks in advance for your attention.

Yes youtube plugin doesn't download correctly any youtube video.

I try to download 4 1080p videos and at all 4 videos i have a lot of seconds of the video that is lost from the downloaded video even at youtube link was played normally.

So i belive you must fix the youtube plugin especially for 1080p videos.

Default Youtube files downloaded as M4A are unsupported by Google Play Music

I have been racking my brains trying to download playlists from Youtube with the JD plugin settings for YT as grabbing M4A (highest 256 and 192) variants, yet every single one fails to upload to Google Play Music (in Music Manager I see "unsupported format", despite M4A being well supported by it).

I have now confirmed that there is something in the way that JD is downloading/converting/whatever the M4A, as I just used clipconverter.cc to test with the same video link and I successfully uploaded the resulting .M4A from there.

Obviously that site cannot match the batch processing power of JD so I'd like to use JD, appreciate any help with this!!

edit: added version of JD screenshot that I am using

I posted here: https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=65395 Just putting my post here as well in case that's more suitable.

Basically I have tried and tried and tried uploading .m4as from YT videos with JD (any quality from YT plugin settings, even aac/ogg doesn't work either) to Google Play Music Manager, and the files are always getting an "unsupported format" error. Files downloaded with JD are the only files that give this error, everything else works uploading to Music Manager.

I try the same thing with clipconverter.cc, grabbing a YT video as an m4a from there and it uploads just fine. I am 99% sure the converting at the end of downloading a file with JD that ruins its metadata or something, preventing it from being a "proper" .m4a file. This is only happening with JD, I am able to grab YT files with any of the online downloading sites and they upload properly.

Thanks for any help!

Default Directs URLs Infos

Hello everyone :-)

Following of this thread: https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=54187

I would like to have these information: the direct URLs for each file.
eg when you scan the URL of a YTube playlist in the information we get only the URL of the playlist but not those for the files found ...

If you click on de "properties" for one downloaded file, and if you double-click on the "url" in the window that opens, you are the choice for save the contener url or this direct url... But for more than one file or pack how do we do ?

Could you help me, please?

Thank you in advance :-)

If you "copy the informations" of the entire pack you have only the url of Playlist repeated for each file...

@Sobani Exile:
Please provide new logfile from a single download where resume does not work.
The slow down is normal. Youtube throttles download after x secs to speed of bitrate of video. At the begin it is fast to messure the line speed (for auto quality) and then throttles speed.

I am trying to download a part of my Like playlist, but the order it's appearing in Jdownloader seems rather random, while I want to grab the 70-ish newest liked videos. I've found a thread discussing this for JDownloader 1, but I can't find the feature in JDownloader 2. Is it gone?

@Mistery

that's desired behaviour you need to change the URL display order to change the info else where.

@ikt
settings > plugins > youtube.com
look at customised filename *videonumber* or *videonumber[000] . The 000 is just formatting so if you have 999 videos the first videos are formatted 001 002 so that they all sort nice in JD and in your filemanager. Also when import URL isn't from LISTS (play list/course list/channel list) it wont be used
