Drag and drop of links works from Microsoft Edge, but not from Firefox.

Why? Firefox refuses to accept drag and drop if UAC is disabled.
Solution. Enable UAC in Windows.

I used an hour to solve this issue, so I'll record it here. Hopefully other users will solve this issue quickly.

@xpssrg: DragDrop does only work in Windows when both applications are the same leve of *security/privilege* as part of security model of Windows. A lower priviliged container cannot read the higher priviliged container clipboard for example. Also not possible to share via drag/drop.

You should not run JDownloader as admin, nor firefox
