I got this error too. When clicking "ok", it was giving me errors and it cannot start. Maybe the update was mandatory for me (it was a fresh install).
Now it is sorted, btw, it updates and starts.

The update server seems to be having outages, it has been down several times last week, making the program unable to run seems it believes there is no Internet Connection. Is there anyway to replace http://update.appwork.org for another url which better availability, or remove this unstable check?

PS: Why it has been marked as solved when the application thinks Internet is down when the update server is down?. Shouldn't it be testing at least a pair of mirrors, like google dns?

@dirheim: JDownloader doesn't require connection to update server in order to run but might show a dialog when your connection has issues.
Your screenshot shows perfectly fine running update server.I don't see any reason for a fancy *I'm alive* website. There has been no issues with the update infrastructure. The monitoring system shows fine stats and the last server restart is 26 days ago. The downtime was on Saturday-Sunday night(9/12/2018)

Please create a log, see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...d-session-logs
and post the shown logID here.
Without logs I can only guess what the issue might be for you

After resetting back the UI language back from English to Spanish, the error is not longer showing, but the Help menu has disappeared, I think I'll do a full reinstall of the app in my Mac.

I have been experiencing same issue.

It tries to update, sometimes the error shows straight after clicking update, sometimes after it gets to installing stage...

@JPpunpacker: this error has nothing to do with update server. this message shows that something prevents JDownloader from updating.
Try the following. Close JDownloader and delete the Core.jar file and the folders tmp and update and start JDownloader again. It then should update itself to latest version.
In case this still fails, please contact us via support@jdownloader.org

Thanks for the feedback! How did you solve the issue? Setup any settings or just disabled AV?

I paused the AV, did the update and then resumed AV.
I tried figuring out what was causing it, but I have allowed jd access and added to exceptions but was still getting update error, so pausing the AV was last option.

I guess its some setting buried away... BTW, its KTS19.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe you can add urls to exclude list? as far as I rememeber there is a exclude list for applications. did you try to add JDownloader.exe and its java there?

Yes, everything was added to exclusions but it still wasn't updating.
I ended up removing the program from the app list, then tried updating again, this time it worked, but the second time it produced the same error.
The weird thing is that it finds the update, shows that its downloaded, its when it tries to install it stops half way and errors, must be a system monitor thing in kts...

Kasperksy doesn't like the *selftest* of the update as the file has .jar in filename but isn't a jar file. the self test validates that after installing the updates, JDownloader is still able to reach the update server and perform update installations. this prevents updates to be installed that breaks the update mechanism.

thanks for the detailed feedback

well is it just simply a rename, something I can do, or you mean something you will need to change and test in an update?

Ok no problem, but yes, its the jdownloader.jar in self/jdu that's the issue.

Could you check if you can download the file in question manually in browser. Would be great to know if that works or kis also kills this download. That way we can do testing/changes without having to deploy them to all without knowing if it works.
Maybe you are willing to help us? Contact us via support@jdownloader.org

I guess I could try to download manually, but during the update process it does actually download the update, its only when installing that it fails.
If I leave all settings in KTS the same, and check the box "do not monitor activity" ONLY for jdownloader.jar (self/jdu), then it installs fine.
If I go back into the same jdownloader.jar file settings and allow system monitor again for it, then the update fails.

Or do you mean jdownloader.jar tries to d/l another file again and system monitor stops it, so I should try to d/l that file manually? If yes, maybe pm link.

The given URL from post 6 (https://board.jdownloader.org/showpo...23&postcount=6) is downloaded when update is getting verified/validated/selftested.
Don't add any exclusions in KIS or change settings and check if KIS still blocks that URL even when you try to open it in browser. Once that happens, we can do some testing to change that file and see when KIS will no longer block it
