Default Shutting down unintendedly, jD didn't save files as "downloaded": avoid 2. download?

(many thanks for the new update, great!)

Because the automatic update option of Vista shut down the PC automatically to install the updates, the opened jD also got shut down automatically (by Vista) and all the files / packages already downloaded were not stored as downloaded in the download list, but are marked as not downloaded and will be downloaded again.

I tried to set in "Properties" in "Save to" the same path (.../download) for all packages / files in one step to the folder containing the already downloaded rar files (mark all and set in "Properties" the new path for all), but that didn't work, the path changes for one single package only.

Is there an easy way to find out which (rar) files marked as "not downloaded" are already downloaded (so to avoid downloading the same files again)?

Nice greetings, Dirk

Cool

First, I think it's not normal Windoze shuts down applications that are still running. It should give at least a warning. Better, it should ask the customer to quit the applications that are still running.

I know that jD saves the current state of its links on a regularly basis (every 10 minutes or something like that). This way the customer can't loose too much link and state information in case of disaster.

That said, I don't understand what happened to you, poor Dirk

What I understand is that you lost your package directory information. Did jD loose the links as well?

If the files already exist and are in the same directory, you can set the option "If the file already exists" to "skip link" in order to avoid a second download.

Yes, indeed, really senceless.

Hmmm, very strange, jD had been running the whole day...the information about which files (of the downloaded ones) were downloaded are not stored...

The package directory information are still there, I have lost the information in the dowlnload list, that the packages / files are already downloaded.

No no, thank goodness they are all still there.

Yes, it is set like that, but unfortunetally I had removed the files and deleted their directories (after successfully downloaded). That is why I tried to set another download folder (in one single step) for all the files already downloaded (move them to this folder), so that jD would mark them ("If the file already exists" and "skip link" set) as already downloaded in the list.

Oops, this thread is declared as "solved"...!?...

Thanks again, nice greetings, Dirk

its solved because its not jd fault when it gets killed by windows when it wants to shutdown.....its the same as copying files and turn off the computer by power down...you will not know whats copied and whats not.
We cannot solve the case when jd gets killed by other apps, without shutting down correctly

Thanks, Jiaz,

Yes, of course, you are right, I understand and I knew, it is not a fault by jD. I am just wondering how to delete the easiest way the files already downloaded in the download list.

Nice greetings, Dirk

since jd lost all information about file loaded or not...the easiest way is to change to *skip link* and download, jd then will know that a file already downloaded

Many thanks, Jiaz,

Yes, but unfortunately I have moved the downloaded files and removed the folders containing these files...so I guess, there seems to be no easy way...

Thanks again, nice greetings, Dirk

Cool

Remains one final question.

I read link information is automatically backuped at regular intervals.

Is there any reasonwhy jD doesn't keep status information about the links in its database?

Saving status information would make disaster recovery much less painful.
