mcafee blocking jdownloader installer
I tried installing jdownloader but my antivirus is detecting a file in the installer and quarantines it. Is it a mistaken detection or does the installer have a virus? the detection is called "realprotect" and some numbers after that. I attached a screenshot of it

I found a different installer that worked without being detected as a virus, still not sure why the download from the main page is blocked though

Our installer contains optional adware that you can decline/skip during installation. You can find an adware free installer on http://jdownloader.net/jdownloader2
You can read about it here, https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...g-installation

Even when I opted out of the adware and clicked install my antivirus quarantines something created in a temp folder it seems and then jdownloader doesn’t install. I was able to use the adware free installer

Thanks for the feedback. We could reproduce the issue. The installer is currently broken, we're working on it.

It's not just McAffee. Windows Defender, the default antivirus that ships with Windows 10, also quarantines JD's installer (screenshot attached).

We are aware of this false positive flagging of our web installer and will soon switch to new solution without this web installer involved.
