What is an app password, how to generate one and where do you need to enter this during website login?
Please also provide screenshots.

My guess is that this login method is not supported by our plugin. Our plugin only supports 'traditional login' via phone/email and password.
If other login methods are used, you can try the cookie login method as workaround, see:

I was unable to find any hints regarding mkv files.
Maybe those other downloadmanagers are simply downloading the HLS-streaming versions of those videos?
Are any of those other downloadmanagers open source so that it is easy to find out, where those .mkv files are bei
Did you compare the downloaded files with the one JD downloaded?
Maybe the only difference is the .mkv file-extension

Also JD can also download the HLS versions:
1. Go to Settings -> Plugins -> vk.com -> Enable "Prefer HLS stream download"
2. Delete all previously added vk.com video URLs, re-add them and download them.

I can't grab Youtube videos uploaded to VK (unless I use direct YT link) if I click on video preview, I always get "Content_offline!" message. Probably a minor problem since I can go directly to YT, but still...

According to your logs, vk.com has blocked the User-Agent currently used by JDownloader...but at the same time it's working fine here.
What you can try:
1. Obtain your own browsers' User-Agent value e.g. here: whatmyuseragent.com
2. In JD go to Settings -> Plugins -> vk.com -> User-Agent -> Put your User-Agent value in that field -> Tra again

Yeah, it's not the first time I've noticed that after manually updating the useragent everything starts working. Sometimes it also helps to press "refresh" in the list of accounts.

This time though it was strange as I wasn't able to reproduce this issue.
I've updated the default User-Agent with the CORE-update you got yesterday evening so maybe that has fixed the issue for you.

I can't download photos from the site's albums. Authorization is required, but authorization does not work. It is not enough to enter your login (mail) and password. Additionally, you need to enter a code from the application or a code from SMS. But the jdovloader does not request this code.

I tried changing the User-Agent and logging in again, but nothing works. It can only download images individually (ex: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**).

it works again, but now it is only downloading the first 20 photos from each album.

If I try to download the photos individually, it doesn't find the image to download and gives an error.

The vk.com website has changed tremendously.
They are now using signed WebAPI requests.
This will either never be fixed or take more time.

Your log doesn't contain any plugin failures.
Please trigger the problem and provide a fresh log.
