Default Mac JD2 missing many tools now broken Items

I have noticed this recently that in linkgrabber the drop down to clear link grabber is now always grayed out when there is one or many files one may wish to clear out of linkgrabber. Reset linkgrabber is also grayed out, etc

There are some other actions that where in the app before that don't seem to be there anymore, and a few other things in settings that dont seem to work although some I can't remember atm.

The interface does not include a way (no help menu such as in the PC version apparently) to enable the log file it seems also so we can send the appropriate log file.

Are their plans to make both versions PC and Mac the same since your using java for the base interface I think.

This is a Mac I'm using running OS X 10.6.8

Sounds like something is really messed up, because help is in menubar. Don't see how that could be happening, then again stranger things have happened.

Can you please tell us which version of Java you are using, from terminal 'java -version'

If you can find it, provide screen shot of your about window (from the help menu)

JD is made the be the same on each computer. Menu text should be the same also, but maybe slightly located in a different location as to comply with osx api. We moved away from the '?' menu as help because when you give help and say goto '?' people see it as a question not a directional statement.

Please upgrade to Java 7, version 6 is no longer supported by Oracle (for over a month now).
goto the install directory '/applications/jdownloader.app/resources/java/' think its something like that (not a mac user). start JDownloader.jar and click update.

thankyou

Raztoki FYI, Java 7 is not supported in 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. You need 10.7 Lion or later.

kdean: Thanks, sounds like apple needs to provide updates accordingly. Java6 has been discontinued and running old java is silly idea re:security matters.

Apple doesn't provide updates for Java 7, Oracle does and they've chosen to only support 10.7 and later. Granted 10.6 was last updated over 2 years ago and has been replaced by 10.7, 10.8 and the upcoming 10.9, so really the solution is to upgrade to a more up-to-date version of OS X, hardware permitting.

Well it works fine here with Java I reported and latest JD update I just ran seemed to fix the Help menu! it is now back.

Apple does still support Java security updates and they also supplied some patches and fixes for various Java version security problems since they were hacked recently.

Regardless I have the help Menu back Yea!

I'll see if other things are fixed when I get a chance also.

And doesn't the Mac version installer install a version of Java also? thats what I remembered reading before I installed it.

@kdean
k, guess oracle has it's reasons. I guess I shouldn't complain about using old OS, I'm still using Windows XP machines.

@Statter
JD2 installers provide java, not just the Mac installer. Think they do this encase system java is messed up/old/problematic.
