Jdownloader2 problem for download on my synology DS414J
Hello everybody ,
I have a problem with Jdownloader2 on Mac . When I want download something on my Synology server (mounted in finder) ,Jdownloader does something weird ,at start the download speed is at the maximum and down slowly to zero (very slowly) and after reach zero ,the speed growth again to the maximum and work normally . I can observe in the Synology web interface that Jdownloader use all the Synology bandwidth (60mo/s with my configuration while my max download speed is 4mo/s in my home) until the download speed reach zero ,stop and start again ,after that the download works until the end ,although ,in comparison with Safari ,the download speed is very unstable ..... If I download on local HDD or external device (USB2/FW800 for exemple) everything work fine. The problem can't be related with my Synology because when I start download with Safari ,everything works. I can't understand why Jdowloader2 does this only with my Synology server ... Thanks for your help . |

Set max connections to 1. This happens because when you set max connections >1, the file will be created complete at once and then download stalls because OS/NAS is still busy with creation of file. Imagine you download a 1 GB file. 1GB via slow network takes long. My guess, your network drive does not support sparse files that do not have this issue. Also your browser does not use more than 1 connection and therefore does not suffer from this issue

At the moment there is no other way. SparseFiles help but may not work when storing on network drives/folders. With next download system I'm currently working on, this will no longer be an issue and then more connections should work fine too

Hello, I have a very similar problem:
Since one or two months I am not able to download anything to my Synology NAS. Downloads to my local drive are no problem. The download starts at full speed and decreases until 0. At the same time the bar on the top right corner shows completely different values. I am not even able to stop the download. After I click the stop button Jdownlaoader needs up to 10 minutes to react. I tried setting the max connections to 1, but without any success :( Do you have any other idea? Best regards Julian |

Do you download ON Synology NAS or TO ?
Please provide a logfile. Go to MyJDownloader Website and in Settings you can create log and send us the shown logID to support@jdownloader.org Does this happen with all downloads? Can you access Synology NAS via network? Better contact us via support@jdownloader.org

What problem do you mean? There is nothing for JDownloader to fix. If you want we can take a look at this together via Teamviewer, contact us via support@jdownloader.org
The next download core is not finished yet

Thanks for your response.
I mean ,I still have the same probleme since the day I opened this thread ,and your response on the post #4 give me some hope already 3 years ago about the possibility to using sparsefiles on my Synology NAS. I use Jdownloader everyday for download files on my NAS but I can't able to use my full download speed because I can't use sparsefiles (with only 1 connection per filehosts, the speed download can't reach even 50% of my max speed ,contrary when I download on my USB3 HDD I can reach the max speed ,when using sparsefiles). I hope to find a solution one day to this problem because I love to use jdownloader too much for quit him. |

SparseFiles is something the filesystem must support and JDownloader is using SparseFiles since many many years. I know many ppl running JDownloader on synology and never heard of any issues. I can't tell for USB devices connected to synology because no one was using such a combination.
Just to be sure... JDownloader is running on your Synology, isn't it? Your initial post sounds like your JDownloader is running on computer and you've mounted the NAS and download to it via network. Why so? Why not directly install JDownloader on the NAS and be able to download all time without power on the computer?

Yes ,JDownloader is running on my Mac and I've mounted the NAS and download to it via network. I never tried to install Jdowloader on the synology because I do not love to use it through my.jdownloader ,I'm personally not a big fan of his web interface.... but if this could help to download at the full speed of my connection I will try.
I also recently discover the new app Jdownloader remote on iOS and the interface look very good ,so for controlling jdown with my iPad that would be cool but too bad there is not similar interface on my.jdowloader.org . Thank you for your help. I will let you know if this resolve my problem. |

I would suggest we take a look at your setup together via Teamviewer and maybe we find the reason for this. It should work very fine even with mounted network drive. It works fine on windows and I don't see any reason why it should'nt work good on Mac as well.

The post suggested to set max connections to 1. Does that mean I change the Max Chunks per Download to 1 or Max Simultaneous Download to 1, or both?
Thank you |

As others said I just let it download till it reaches 0 and then it's fine. Just wanted to add this problem is also for android TVs attached on network. Do not want to set chunks to 1 as that limits speed by itself when downloading multiple chunks.

It's not about the device but the used filesystem/network filesystem has to support sparse files. Else the OS has to create/fill the file first before random write is possible
