Is there a version of the 7-Zip-JBinding that is compiled agains musl libc instead of glibc? I'd need that to run it in an Alpine Docker container with OpenJDK (openjdk:8-jre-alpine) which doesn't have glibc support.

Hi all,

1.) Download the betatest package (Version 06.10.2016-001)

Linux (64Bit only at the moment) Updated on 07.10.2016 because of wrong file naming!
mega.nz/#!eAtQ1LxL!vLbU9e9hWWc9QcfaNwwaiB3bbwlC4bOC7QchAUckF0g

Is there an update for Linux 32 bit?

@cremor: you can try to compile yourself or ask boris for help

@coxy86: you can try to compile yourself, see first response. I don't have 32bit os at the moment, sorry. boris is currently working on newer version and I'm confident that he will provide 32 bit version as well

Default unrar 5 with FreeNAS /Freebsd11.2 64-bit- possible solution

Hello all!

Iam running jdownloader in a FreeNAS 11.2 FreeBSD 11.2 jail. Thanks to all those tutorials the installation wasn't an issue. But soon I ran into the problem, that rar5 is not supported. Google redirected me to this thread and without further reading I took the linux files - just to learn again that 2 minutes of reading saves you 2 hours of finding out what others already have.

I followed Jiaz and omega3 instructions as outlined in post 254.

Like omega3 describes in his post 258 I only got the "sevenzipjbinding-FreeBSD-amd64.jar" in my "SevenZipJBinding/" directory. But unlike omega3 my ctest passed all tests.

My question for Jiaz is: In your post 259 you said you can split/extract the files. Can you explain me the steps how I can do that ? Otherwise if thats too complicated I uploaded the file to **External links are only visible to Support Staff**mega.nz and i would appreciate it if you can do that for me

Thanks in advance and good night!

EDIT:
After some googling I found out that jar files can be opened by a standard zip program. But after comparing all given files all I needed to do was rename my file and add the the sevenzipjbinding1509.jar which was the same for linux windows and mac so i guessed it would work with FreeBSD too.

So on a 64 bit system running a FreeNAS 11.2 jail with FreeBSD 11.2 extract the following zip file (containing "sevenzipjbinding1509.jar" and "sevenzipjbinding1509Bsd.jar") into your ./jdownloader/libs folder and restart jdownloader
Code:
mega.nz/#!yWQGWCyD!aFMU8ynrKO5YCa8dlLDjpiCJFK8EYNwQ8fl3SQehrlE
after restarting jdownloader I tested it with downloading following unrar5-file which only contains an empty textfile(<1kb):

Code:
ul.to/kngtjqyf
the extraction was succesful and the log in ./jdownloader/log/..CurrentDate../ExtractionExtension.log.0 showed the following positive output for the unrar process:
Code:
root@jdownloader:/usr/local/jdownloader/logs/1544405797762_Mon, Dec 10, 2018 02.36 +0100 # cat ExtractionExtension.log.0

to create the library I did the following steps
Code:
#git clone **External links are only visible to Support Staff**#cd SevenZipJBinding/
#git checkout migrate-to-15.09-try2
#cmake .
#rm CMakeCache.txt
#cmake . -DJAVA_JDK=/usr/local/openjdk8

Danke!

@Mister XY

@tob1337:
This is great news. the naming scheme of the files is little bit different then those created
by build script. In case you still have questions/need help, please contact me

As I don't speak some of the languages within this post be patient please;

I am not sure what the real problem is with the RAR5 support at least for the extraction side as for all of the *nix Operating systems the main file used for extractions is a file called unrar and to my knowledge at least it does not reuire a license as the actual rar file (for compression) does.

Most can be downloaded from rarlab.com/downloads via the OS used and extracted from the *.tar.gz files and then per the rar.txt files within one can place and configure the unrar file where it needs to be for system wide use.

As I have not used Windows in ages (since NT or so) The winblows shares though are *.exe's though an I have not looked into those to see where the particular unrar file would need to be placed nor what would have to be entered into the winblows registry for it to work system wide. I'm sure it can be done easily enough though with someone else's input.
I also do not use Androids so I have no knowledge there on that if some wish to put such on their Androids.

I guess my questions are, since I have not found within JD2 under Advanced Settings where one could point to such directories also to tell JD where it needs to look for the unrar file if it is installed. Why isn't there such?

If JD also wishes to keep better control also of such as the RAR5 Unrar file for version updates why can't JD simply put the unrar file into the JD folder somewhere and tell the JD app where it is located? Also it could be updated as needed when JD itself updates its files when needed. I am not sure why your really wanting to make it into a java/jason type set of extractors.

As for the actual Rar file that needs a license that becomes another issue of course but JD IMHO doesn't need such to compress anything to my knowledge.

Hope that makes sense.

@statter
why cant you link it to unrar? because jd extraction module doesn't utilise rar/unrar by rarlabs, extraction is carried out by 7zip java based library. Hope that answers your query.

@raztoki It doesnt bother me as I dont always like things auto extracting although at times it is ok for some of the smaller things.

I have noticed though that within JD in the advanced settings although you give things like file paths to such as MPEG directory or convertors I have found no such items for Rar/unrar file path.

Far as I know also 7zip java based library is a pain to maintain properly it seems as from what I see or am atm aware of J7zip is a JAVA port of 7zr.exe (p7zip.sourceforge.net) and has not truly been updated/ported to the current versions much less the latest or beta versions. So maybe unless you have someone actually porting things properly it might be a reason why some are having issues due to their OS'es or configurations. Even at the sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/search/?q=porting there is no real update to those threads since 2012-12-08

A note from within the readme files of even the latest download of source files "7zip\UI\Client7z folder for example of using DLL files of 7-Zip.
Some DLL files can use other DLL files from 7-Zip.
If you don't like it, you must use standalone version of DLL.
To compile standalone version of DLL you must include all used parts
to project and define some defs."

Also as various OSe's sometimes implement their own base Java Methods those sometimes can get broken from my understanding such as "To the best of my knowledge, Adroid uses own "Java" implemenatation, which is different from OpenJDK (Oracle/Sun Java) in many aspects. The Android implementation apparently had a bug in its CSRNG seeding code, at one point in time. I don't think this effected the OpenJDK (Oracle/Sun Java) at all. The SHA1PRNG still exists unchanged in the latest OpenJDK v11."

Sorry, I know you all work hard with this app but with the different platforms you cover of course there can be some odd things thrown in by the different OS'es and Versions I know. Just wishing to remind maybe not only you all behind the scenes but also the members that get frustrated when things don't work that sometimes its not your fault when something breaks and also maybe to toss out some reminders of things that might be helpful to add in such as advanced settings from time to time

google copied sun java (now oracle) api frame work as it was a highly known language and it was easier to utilise that than create a 'new' language. This has backfired somewhat as they (Google and Sun now Oracle) have been fighting it out in court for years. That said the main reason the change away from rar was the licence for memory is not conducive to repackage. That and at the time I believe 7zip wasn't supported by rarlab binaries(exe/bin) or library(dlls/etc).

in respects to providing binary path is one thing implementing the support is another. It's not just as simple as giving users the ability to place a path in. For ffmpeg ffprobe there are lots of switches that go with it along with path info etc, and rar for instance is also the same. In the scheme of things it wouldn't be hard thing todo, but I don't think Appwork are interested in doing this at this time. I haven't been following progress of development for the last 9 months or so heavily, but development in JD has slowed, so I'm more saying this for this reason (unlikely).

@Statter:
JDownloader is using the 7zip java binding by boris. It does NOT use any unrar/winrar binary as those are not as easy to use and doesn't provide all required features. Old JDownloader 0.9581 did use unrar directly but this had too many disadvantages like slow password handling, filename with foreign encoding/chars issues, different handling for different languages/versions...issues with older linux kernels with fork vs exec

You can either use the compiled versions here, https://board.jdownloader.org/showpo...71&postcount=1
or compile yourself from here **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

The 7zipjavabinding has the great advantage that there is only ONE api to access ALL supported archive formats and it solves all the listed disadvantages from above.

Boris is already working on updated version for latest available release version

Feel free to ask/comment about this

We have a very old unrar ticket but it makes no sense in wasting time in it as there are
existing working solutions that don't have the disadvantages from post 329
