There is no extension for IE.

Rapidgator doesn't use Recaptcha, so it isn't a problem.

Uploaded worked because they were the last main filehost to use Recaptcha V1 before V1 was shut down April 2nd. Now ONLY Recaptcha V2 works with Uploaded, and hence you need a browser that supports the extension, or you can't use JD with those hosts.

Please read here https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=76515
Short: Google has shutdown the old RecaptchaV1 and now every service has to switch to RecaptchaV2 which
requires the browser extension so you can solve the captcha.
It has nothing to do with Windows. You can change default browser to a supported browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera)

Just for the record: Neither JDownloader nor the Browser Extension is able to solve the Recaptcha V2 by itself, right? The Recaptcha has to be solved manually, correct?

Correct. There are services like DeathByCaptcha or 9kw that *solve* it for you either for money or spending gathered points.
This type of Captcha is meant to not be solveable by tools
