Question Dark skin/theme for JD2?

Any chance we can get a dark skin/theme for JD2? It would be more comfortable on the eyes in a dark room at night.

Settings-Advanced settings-search for theme and you can select different ones (package will be installed on first use)

i really liked the "black eye" theme back in JD1. but it looks bad in JD2--even after tweaking the colors for the panels. also, it has various graphical issues.

i wish JD was officially designed around this dark theme, so it would actually look proper.

Possible to provide a screenshot? because the Theme is 100% the same in JD1 and JD2.

JD1

JD2

JD1 "black eye" is imperfect mainly in the black text at the bottom. but that text is normally not a big deal for me, so i can live without it.

JD2 "black eye" is imperfect in many more ways. such as...
- bad fitting buttons at the bottom
- barely visible black icons [such as the gears, locks in the columns, and tab close x]
- checkboxes on toolbar buttons are hard to see
- file menu area doesn't visually blend in properly

Please know that we only officially support the default theme as we would have to layout/optimize/spend a lot of time to make all other themes/color combinations look good.
But coalado said when he finds some time, he will see what he can do about it

thanks for your attention to this issue.

for practicality, i think JD should just focus on having two main themes that look official: a light and a dark. most of the other color themes are immature looking anyways and probably aren't worth using to most people.

I think when we find some time we can start *fixing* the other themes for better look and feel of JDownloader

would be even better if JD just uses a dark theme by default.

NOTE: i use JD maximized all the time and all the white is harsh to the eyes in a dark room at night.

SVN ticket mentioned in post 6 indicates 0% progress.

I'd go to say that I doubt any work will be done on this any time soon, unless its done by external developer.

Seconding a progress request. 2 years (almost 3) since I see someone made some sort of commitment to attempt to implement some sort of dark theme. Can barely stand looking at this bc every theme is EXTREMELY white, not interested in paying for a 3rd party app (cant really afford it, TBH, since I dont make income).

We ever going to get even a single one?

I cant deal with all this excess blue light, since I am always needing to use the software at night, and have insomnia. Its a seriously bad issue.

@taosk8r: the author has explained to switch to black_eye and then modify the colors like shown on screenshot to realize his black theme

actually, the "black eye" theme isn't a proper solution. it has problems that needs fixing, as mentioned in my post above.

the "black eye" theme has too many problems so it is actually a bad solution, so i don't use it. i rather just use the default white one. so right now, there is no proper dark theme. :(
