Default updater options

Hello,

Is there a way configure the updater as to not try to update on start but when it closes?

There's been a lot of big updates recently and most of all, when it spends several minutes updating, the program seems to forget the links it got sent through the browser, with flashgot.

Also, every time it does a large update, it deletes ffmpeg because jdl has to get it again? as I frequently download videos from youtube for later watching, this is annoying.

Thanks,

Actually JDownloader tries to install all updates "on exit", and only installs them "on start" if the exit installation is disabled, or not possible due to other reasons.

Please check if UpdateSettings.installupdatesonexitenabled is enabled (advanced options)

Another option would be

a) to disable UpdateSettings.autoupdatecheckenabled
b) to enable UpdateSettings.doaskmebeforeinstallinganupdateenabled

To me it seems that you are using some sort of cleanup tools? That would explain deletion of ffmpeg and bug updates on startup.

UpdateSettings.installupdatesonexitenabled was enabled, so I'm gonna try your second option and see.

Not at all. And an update just got installed when I opened jdl right now and when I tried to get a youtube vid, it asked me to get ffmpeg (I had used jdl this morning for the same thing, with no issues).

So, going with that second option isn't as smooth as I hoped.

It started the update download as the program got launched from the flashgot extension and then asked me if I wanted to continue. When I choose not to, it gave me a second message saying there was an update error and the program closed, losing the link sent by flashgot.

So I had to open it again and re-added the link and got my download done, then I got asked again for the update, which I accepted. It then said "installing" and closed the program.

As a test, I launched the program again and was greeted by a new update download and prompt, which this time I accepted. As it's usually the case now, by the time it finished doing the update, it forgot the link flashgot sent.

So I added it again and got greeted by the now usual "ffmpeg is missing, do you want to install it", which I can't avoid doing, thus restarting the program yet again.

In short, it's kinda tedious!

@chilibert: sounds like something messes with your installation and breaks the installation.
I can take a look via Teamviewer if you like, just send me ID and PW to support@jdownloader.org
