Looks like Firewall/av is causing the issue. I'm very sure your firewall/av blocks the download of the selftest. URL should be within the error log.
I'm very sure the same url doesnt work in browser either.

Make sure you've added JDownloader/its Java to exclusion list

so stupid ;-( in situations like these, i always disable the firewall to check this first, i was so sure, i already checked that... i disabled it, then the install worked.... sorry guys....

but that leads me to the question: which program do i have to setup for the exclusion list ?

".......\AppData\Local\JDownloader 2.0\JDownloader2.exe" or anything else ? java.exe ?

thanks

You're not stupid One would not expect that something fails that worked before
You can add both

Thanks for the feedback!

okay, will do, thanks ! (and yes, before it worked, without any changes to the firewall) - maybe a windows update changed something here... who knows

hi all,

i want to give an update here, because it might help others.
so after debugging a lot, i found out, that my problem was NOT the firewall.

because even the firewall has been disabled, jdownloader was not able to contact the update server to finish the installation.

i also found out, that teamviewer was not able to connect the servers, too.

so.... because i have a razer blade notebook (very new) - i had no idea what the pre-installed "killer network manager" is doing here... its an app that helps you managing your wifi traffic... maybe a nice app, but it never used it, but the most important thing is: this stupid app blocked some very specific connections, i don´t see any scheme here, but after disabling the app (service and autostart) - everything was working fine, even when the firewall has been enabled again... totally strange, very confusing....

so this is just a warning to others: if you disabled the firewall and still connections are blocked, check, if you use any wifi managers or anti-virus apps... sometimes they do very unknown and strange things....

regards,
micha

thanks for the feedback

external programs cause 94% of the connectivity problems(security related software). 1% maybe router/hardware (security software installed to hardware) based restrictions and 5% ISP related issues (internet filters/blocks)
