@Haidon: can you check if ffmpeg works for you?
can you start
Quote:
D:\Program Files\JDownloader 2\tools\Windows\ffmpeg\x64\ffmpeg.exe
in cmd.exe ?
can you check those two binaries and if they do not work, try this https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...r-installation

@Jiaz: That's fixed it! When I tried to run ffmpeg from the command prompt, it threw an error, basically saying the file was corrupt.

However, the link you gave me didn't quite fix it (or so it seemed). When I tried to do the update after removing the files, it continually rolled back and tried the update over and over. It was saying that ffpmeg was in use. As it turns out, leaving the command prompt window open that I'd used to test ffmpeg was keeping it open as a process, blocking the whole thing from working properly. Cancelling the update in the 'checking for updates' phase, then closing the command prompt window, and then reopening JDownloader fixed the remainder of the issue.

I appreciate the help!

I've tried removing the link and restarting JDownloader. Always stops at 0.33% for some reason.

Default 4K Download Option Not Available on Some YouTube Channels?

Hi all

I've been using JDownloader very happily and successfully for a while now, but have come across a couple of instances where there is no 4K download option for a video (that definitely is on YouTube in 4K)

Is there something special or different about some videos or channels that prevents them being downloaded in the highest resolution? As an example, this video:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

The highest resolution JDownloader offers me is 1920p, but it is a 4K video. All videos on the LTT channel seem to be the same, but videos on other channels from the same group (LMG) don't have the same problem.

(For example, these videos from yesterday on the TechLinked and TechQuickie channels: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** & **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** - 2160p and 1440p are options)

If there's something I can do to get the 4K download I'd like to know, but I'd equally appreciate just knowing if it's not possible (and why) so that I can stop wondering about it:biggrin:

Thank you in advance for your help

It's called aspect ratio ( wearethefirehouse.com/aspect-ratio-cheat-sheet ) do side by side of the videos and you'll see that the 1920p ones are smaller in hight In short: all good

@Sonatine
Rightclick in any youtube video in your browser -> Click on "Stats for nerds" (or similar) --> You will get more detailed playback information in the upper left corner of the currently playing video.

It's called aspect ratio
FFS. I'm so sorry, I completely brain-farted here (an object lesson in not posting at 3am when you can't sleep, though that doesn't excuse my first mistake on registering this as not 4K some months ago)

Yes, I know all about aspect ratio (though I appreciate that you'd doubt it), and I knew that LTT videos were uploaded in a wider than usual aspect ratio (Linus has even mentioned it on some of his videos), yet somehow I've contrived to forget it, and just completely spaced when I saw "1920p", with my brain apparently short-cutting conscious thought with a not-helpful "1920? That's a number I recognise, because FHD is 1920x1080, therefore this must be FHD, not UHD".

I feel like an idiot now, and I am very sorry to have wasted your time, but I appreciate you, @Jiaz, and you, @pspzockerscene, for taking the time to reply, and for not mocking me as you might.:)

Thank you again, and now perhaps an early night to get some of that sleep I'm so clearly lacking.

@Sonatine: Thanks for your feedback. There is nothing to be sorry or feel like an idiot for! You just wondered about this legitimate question and we just answered

@zither: long term known issue. Please open playlist in browser and scroll down until all videos are listed, then select them all via mouse and copy to clipboard

@Sonatine
No worries
You might want to put the real/full resolution into your youtube filenames to make it easier to spot that in JD.
See Settings -> Plugins -> youtube.com -> Scroll down

I'm running JDownloader in docker, I'm trying to download some age restricted YouTube videos.

I'm trying to grab and paste the cookie information in place of the password, the same as I do for Google Drive.

I'm logging into YouTube and using EditThisCookie to grab the cookie data. When I paste it into the clipboard modal it appears to be causing the page to hang, I'm assuming due to the size of the data I'm trying to paste.

I'm not sure how I can paste in the data, I appreciate this isn't specifically a JDownloader issue but I thought I'd ask here.

Which browser addon did you use to export the cookies?
FlagCookies or EditThisCookie?
Either way: Try the one you haven't tried yet.

If it keeps failing:
Initiate a new youtube session in a new browser profile and try again with those cookies.

Grabbing the cookie information from logging in on a new private window worked. Thanks

Thanks for your feedback.
Our cookie login instructions should already state the idea of using another browser window/session.

Hi. Im trying to figure why I cant download youtube videos in higher than 1080p with .mp4 format. When I switch to .mkv I can download in 4k or 1440p.
Also when I select .mkv sometimes the app wont pull the link from youtube and I have to switch back to .mp4

Hi,

OPUS 152 kbit/s vs AAC 128 kbit/s vs M4A 128 kbit/s, Which has the best quality for a song downloaded from Youtube?

I made the question here **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** and they told me that: "above 128 kb/s opus, aac and mp3 are very close in terms of quality", "the best one would be the one that is closest to the source".

So, which one should I choose for having the best quality?

I would go for .ogg because it is 152 kbit/s but if it is true that it is equals to m4a 128 kbit/s, maybe I should go for m4a because its size is smaller than ogg.

In the link I posted, there are more infos about the audio, I got that infos using ffprobe

Default Youtube Plugin/Downloads lahmen , Download nur mit geringer Geschwindigkeit

Hallo,

@waveride
Bitte poste mal Testlinks.

Test1:
hier ging es wieder langsam ca. 150-200kbit pro Sekunde Downloadgeschwindigkeit
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Test2:
hier ging es schnell 1-2MB pro Sekunde Downloadgeschwindigkeit
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

MfG

Got a question/problem...

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

I'm posting a previously "LIVE" link to a video as an example of something that's on the server in various high quality versions, but JD is only picking up 240p. The video says "unlisted," but I've downloaded similar live streams before that were unlisted.

Has something changed?

Thanks.

How do prioritize the "mkv" container over the "mp4" container?

Also, add subtitles inside the "mkv", since "mkv" is richer than "mp4".

@Valinduz
Wait some time until all / higher resolutions are available in stream-types that JD can handle.
I'm getting 1080p for your testlink atm.

See Settings->Advanced Settings->Youtube.qualitysortidentifierorder
have to move CONTAINER at higher position
and Youtube.qualitysortidentifierorderfiletype
have to move MKV at higher position
Please know that mkv container is not yet available(defined) for every plausible video/audio codec combination.

not yet supported, but could be automated via Eventscripter and script that merges subtitle into mkv after download is finished

@M_Bison: higher resolutions are not available in h264 codec but only in vp9..and thus only avalable in mkv container

Thank you for responding so quickly.

I know you have to wait for 1080p to be processed. Sometimes it takes days and that's fine.

I know what the problem is now though. Under the "Variant" column header, I have to manually select "Change Variant" and from there I can select 1080p. This is odd as I've never had to do that before. 1080p would always be the default. It would always show the highest quality available (I have higher than 1080p disabled in the Youtube plugin settings).

I used to not have 240p checked, which is why it wasn't picking up the links at all. When I turn on 240p, then it works, but I still have to manually change the variant to 1080p.

Any ideas?

Can't reproduce.
The "best only" Handling is working fine here.

@Validuz: please know that you might have to re-add the link, so the plugin might re-fetch the available variants.

Eben getestet:
youtube-dl (v2021.12.17) lädt mit ~500 kbit/s
yt-dlp (2022.08.14) mit meiner vollen Geschwindigkeit (60 Mbit/s)

I believe youtube changed something? since from today (worked fine yesterday and all the time till today) the speeds suddenly are sub-100kb/s (like literally, 50kb/s or 80kb/s per file which all had just 1 connection with the new 'method' jdownloader used and used to have 4-5mb/s per connection each till today)

Not sure if a log can help/show that speed change but here is the one i just made starting the download / waiting a few seconds with its speed and stopping it:

18.08.22 12.00.57 <--> 18.08.22 12.01.52 jdlog://2039211370661/

Thanks for confirming! it's ok. i still believe in you and the Jdownloader team I mean, worst come to shove you guys can at least return it to the 'multiple connections' system and with 10-15 connections it will at least be 'manageable' hehe. but i'm sure you will figure out something better!

Thanks for working on it, promises or not i appreciate it!
