How do I remove finished files from JD

Select and rightclick delete
or
use the delete/cleanup button at the bottom bar and delete all finished
or
select all and use rightclick context menu and delete all finished

And if you want to let JD auto remove finished items e.g. after completion, see:
Settings -> General -> "Remove finished downloads" -> Select your preferred option
