Hello friend, can you explain what you mean? Actually today, i opened the program to try again. It said an update was available. I installed it and tried again. It seems the issue was fixed, my login details were recognized. But, it now asks for a "captcha". It opens my default browser and shows me some browser add-ons. I am not even downloading any documents yet, what captcha is it talking about? I have a free Scribd account, just for documents, not books, and Scribd doesn't even have captchas. I installed the add-on and i see it needs an email and password? For what? For the program or for Scribd? Can someone help with the above questions? |

https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...splay-captchas
See sidenotes regaring "Invisible reCaptcha". Please also read: https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...-account-login You will have to install our "myjdownloader" browser addon to be able to solve this type of captcha. Note: You do not need to register a my.jdownloader.org account! This is not an ad - our extension is technically required to solve this kind of captcha! You can uninstall the browser-extension right away once you've solved this login captcha toi add your scribd account but I recommend leaving it installed as chances are very high that you run across other browser-captchas and/or you need to re-enter it if your current scribd.com login session expires. -psp-

Hello friend, thanks for the reply, I read the two links. I don't know exactly how, but the problem was solved. I had installed the browser plugin. Somehow a page with a captcha opened in the browser and downloading started. The new problem that was created is the following. Account (free) is ok, it says "unlimited". Documents are listed in downloads. I believe there is a 20 downloads limit for every 24h by Scribd for free accounts. So after the first 20, downloading was blocked. Now the time period has passed, but account is not unblocked. Next to the downloads it says "Skipped-account is missing". On the account tab it says "Account is ok: Registered (Free) account" - Unlimited". I am using "Refresh" for the account, but not much changes. The browser opens and i click the captcha, again and again, but still when i start the downloads to at least get my 20 per day Document (not Books) downloads, it says again "Skipped-account is missing". Can i do something about this? By the way, i didn't find out if paying subscription to Scribd.com will get me more downloads. I don't want the books, i collect Documents and i have about 2000 in the download list. Anyone knows? |

the problem is, i didn't have this problem before trying to use JD for scribd, with my account info. I had my 20 downloads per day from the scribd website. Now, i entered my account info in JD as i mentioned in previous posts, had problems downloading. Then, the problem was fixed, captcha issue fixed. I think i downloaded about 2-3 times through JD with my account info. Then, for some unknown reason, downloading stopped working through JD, although captcha is working, AND downloading in general (from the scribd website too) has stopped working, which means there must be some kind of issue like maybe JD sending the scribd website false info that i have constantly exceeded the 20 download limit (although i do not). This is the issue now, i never had it before trying to use JD. Sorry, i am just telling things like they are. Last edited by Transformer; 17.08.2021 at 21:30. |

I sure do believe you
In this case, please send the following information to us via support@jdownloader.org: - At least 10 example URLs (= things you cannot download because of that limit) - Your scribd.com login credentials (user/mail + password) - A fresh log -psp-

JDownloader is not a magic tool! If you cannot even download manually, how is JD supposed to be able to download? Quote:
Without having access to your scribd.com account there is no way for me to check if I can reproduce your issue, if it works via browser and fails via JD and over all if there is anything to fix or if you simply ran into a normal scribd.com download limitation. As you can see in other threads, we do ask for logins from time to time but we will only use them for support purposes. -psp-

Yes, i understand. But we are talking about 10 years of free account random document downloading from the website. And this never happened. Am i wrong to suspect that it has something to do with me adding the account to JD and trying to download from there? Some kind of perplexion. |

If you are unable to download via website, you should first try to sort our this issue. JDownloader cannot magically make downloads work when you can't even download via browser and/or keep getting an error-message even in browser. Quote:
I do have a private scribd.com test account but it is only a free account. From what I remember you can only download a very limited range of files as a scribd.com free user.

Opened another account. It says i need to upload a document in order to download a document. Or, pay subscription. Disappointing.

Ok friends, here's the update:
Using a free account i was downloading just documents from Scribd, 20 limit per day. I tried to use Jdownloader 2 to save some time, for some documents i wanted from Scribd. After 2-3 days of using this method correctly, downloading suddenly stopped. I messaged the Scribd support asking for help and information, no reply ever. The account seems to be completely suspended from downloading in any away. I opened a new account and started a subscription. Before i did that, i messaged the support asking about document downloading limits per day (with subscription). They replied telling me that although it is an "unlimited" subscription, limits may apply. I said what are the limits per day? They said, we can't tell you, but there is an algorithm going around and it may catch you. I asked about using download managers and they specifically said "we don't like that, don't do it". So i suspect using JD2 with the free account was indeed the reason for total downloading suspension of the free account. After two days downloading some documents i wanted (about 200-300) i see that downloading is disabled. They said it will only last for a day if the algorithm limits me, i am waiting to see if this is true or not. Even with the "unlimited" subscription, it means unlimited for reading, not for downloading, this should be made more clear. That's it, hope it helps other people. |

Thanks for the details.
You might be able to download a lot more by e.g. limiting the number of simultaneous downloads to 1 though if their "algorithm" simply counts the total downloads per day and you exceed this limit you'll run into the problem anyways. I wonder if there are less limits for their premium customers. -psp-

"unlimited" often just means "fair use" Because a normal user will use use the platform *normal* way while someone with tool could easily download all of them and stop subscription after just 1-2 days because downloaded everything he wants. They don't want you to crawl/download everything and then no longer need the subscription

Yes, they allow about 100-200 document downloads per day from what i see, for the subscription customers like me. Quote:
One question, i am kind of afraid to download with the subscription with JD2. They replied that they "don't like" download managers. When i tried it in the free account, the account was completely locked as i explained in previous posts and still is till now, and they did not reply to my messages. Now with the new subscription account, i don't know if i should try it, with one download (number of connections) only allowed. My question is, does scribd.com know if me downloading from my IP address and my account occurs normally through their website, or through JD2 (which could possibly mean negative repercussions for my account)? Do they just see my IP downloading a file and they don't have a way to know if I am using JD2? Thanks. |

Let's just put it this way: If they want, they can easily recognize automated downloads and block accounts of users using tools. They only way to find out if they actually do that is to try it out... -psp-

@Transformer: They don't care about your IP as you already using a fix account they can use for counting/probing/analysing.
pspzockerscene is right, if they want to detect tools vs browser, they easily can
