Default No tray support in KDE 5

Hello,

when using KDE 5/Plasma desktop jdownloader doesn't appear in the tray anymore. The problem is, that KDE (and in future other desktops as well) do not use xembed anymore for systray specification but Status Notifier. For a more technical explenation see: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

It would be cool if JD would catch up and supports the new specification as well.

kind regards,
tikey

You need to use such a workaround or wait till java brings support for it. This is deep inside java, nothing we can do/fix about.

Hi. I was wondering if there's been any progress in resolving this issue with the latest upgrades to java 9?

The old school solutions are equally buggy given the need to often restart jdownloader because of the constant updates.

Thanks for all the great work you guys have done on this outstanding app.

I dont know. I dont have KDE5. Either try yourself with latest Java 1.8 or DevBuild of Java 1.9.
Often Restart? There is no need to restart JDownloader. You can use JDownloader without updating right after release of update
