hi, i've been following this thread for a couple of days now and i see some ppl finally get fileserve to work with jd again.

after the update, jd now properly show my fileserve premium status. But now i'm getting this "Hoster problem? Wait xx minutes" error when im trying to download. I have restarted jd and even restarted the computer. is there anything else i should do to make it work ?

edit: i can download as a free user no problem, but with captcha :(
edit2: it works after i checked the direct download on fileserve account setting, thanks to JD for all the work

ok, we have seen now that a lot of people are using JD and good alternative download managers are hard to find (because people preferred to wait for an update rather than switching to an alternative). Then during this ("API-maintenance") time Filesonic and Wupload free (and other hosters too) worked better than Fileserve premium. Interesting to see where this will lead (what the consequences will be). Thanks again to the JD-team.

@zier92:
Disable an Account an reenable it again - if you downloaded correctly the update - your Premium should change status to "Premium User" with expiry date. (Old plugin displayed "ServerError" with Unlimited time).
Fileserve plugin version should be 14783.
If you still got the old version - exit jD and make manual update - from command line execute (make sure that you're in jD main directory):
java -Xmx512m -jar jdupdate.jar

Damn do fileserve suck. Now the speed is so slow it takes ages to download from them. A bad hoster is what they is. Gotta pull myself together to go to the bank and get them banned or get my account changed. Dont know how it works or if they start asking about what site fileserve is.

I haven't noticed any speed issues. I've been downloading all day averaging at about 4.90MB/s....which isn't too bad considering my max download speed through my ISP is 5MB/s.

same here. in HK with premium as well. I guess Fileserve deliberately changes their API so that HK people cannot access their site.

they already did this on their web interface to prevent HK people from downloading. I've sent quite a few complaints to them and there's been no response or whatsoever.

even it's too late for a paypal refund, i'll contact paypal hoping that they will blacklist this scammer. i would suggest you do the same.

Din know which direct download setting and where to find (kept searching JD settings and wasting time) until i remembered Fileserve website has account settings as well

So for every1 else go to fileserve.com click on dashboard next to your account name. Go to Edit accounts on the left and than to advance features. You should than see the checkbox for direct download under premium member features. Tick tat and everything should work. JD used to work without that enabled and a lot of people rarely go to or even see the fileserve download page as JD handles it all

Although JD recognizes my Fileserve premium the speed is unstable.
Before this issue i've use to get the full bandwight all the time, but now it comes in bursts.
Does anyone have the same problem and will it be adressed?
Thanks in advance.

I believe any speed issues would be the fault of FileServe.....jDownloader doesn't control the speed of downloads, especially in bursts.

Mmmm with IDM i'm getting stable full speed constantly.
So I believe it's on JD's part. Just have to wait and see how it will resolve.

But it seems fileserve has still some internal problems. Tried to download a file via JD and still got the hoster problem message. Then I tried to download it via the fs website. At the point at which normaly the download starts, I still get a
Code:
500 - Error
message. Hope they will fix it soon as the website says that the file is online.

I'm having an odd issue.

Got jdownloader updated, and downloading as a premium user (although at erratic speeds), but I'm getting a "phantom" Captcha pop-up periodically, as it did when Fileserve wasn't usable. The box pops up, but can't be filled in or closed; I just have to wait for the cowntdown to expire, it disappears, then pops up again later. I don't even see any log of trace of it in Task Manager.

Anyone have any thoughts? I don't really want to restart my system right now as I'm in the middle of various projects.

More critically, every Fileserve download using jdownloader is slowing to a rediculously slow speed for me - about 50KB/s for its final 10%. Happens with every file, no matter if its the sole download or not. It doesn't seem to be happening d/ling direct through a browser or using Firefox Downthemall.

I can get decent speeds using jdownloader if I have several files d/ling concurrently. But as they all near their end, each slows and my total d/l speed just drops right down.

Is anyone else having similar problems?

From Fileserve www:

API Undergoing Maintenance
17 Aug 2011

Dear FileServe users,

For the next 48 hours, the API will undergo maintenance. This renders some 3rd party programs (JDownloader, Fileserve Manager, et.al.) to not function properly.

We suggest that you use either our Web Interface, IDM or MiPony to download your necessary files.

[News Update @ 4AM EST 19/08-11]: Users using FileServe Manager can now download as Free or Premium User. Third party programs such as JDownloader will work later on.

We recommend that you use FileServe Manager.

Best regards,
FileServe

Just a quick personal update - seemed only polite after raising issues.

I was eventually forced to do a re-start but the "phantom" captcha windows seem to have gone.

FS is downloading normally now, without slowdown near the end of files. I was going to suggest perhaps FS were being swamped now that users are trying to catch up on a weeks d/ling, but I just happened to note that another user was reporting a similar isue, but with FileSonic...

Anyway, things seem to be back to normal for me, at least for now.

And the email to FS has been posted!

For your information, Jdownloader doesn't have anything to do with download speed. I don't know why people keep saying that. If you are getting full speed with IDM, then its obviously a configuration problem with JD. IDM by default uses 16 connections per file. So try raising your connections in JD to 5 or 10 depending on your download speed.

Also make sure your firewall is not blocking javaw.exe. I don't know about other antivirus but KIS requires that you add javaw.exe to its firewall exception list manually.

I have been getting full speed using JD with FS premium after the plugin got fixed. No problems at all. I think I have been using Jdownloader since its inception and never had speed issues.

Slowing down near the end of files is very typical if you are using too many connections per file. That's why I only use 1 connection per file.

Slowing down is typical as chunks finish in whatever order they like and are not replaced with new chunks as a new download is only started once one completely finishes... Slower chunks should speed up on their own accord but if they don't yes you usually have to wait.

I've had an idea to prevent this type of action, which I've mentioned to the staff in the past. But revolves around big recode, most likely ontop of work they have just completed.

I've only got my setting at 2 connections per file. I had to do two system re-starts, as I had various updates to do. The difference in that half hour or so was dramatic. The slow down previously was so bad that for over half the time I was d/ling at around 100KB/s. After that time, it was back to normal. Yes, there is a slight slowdown, but nothing to worry about.

Either the restarting itself did something, or the something at FS changed - possibly the server load; it was late at night here. Either way, the problem corrected itself (at least for now; knock on wood) and I didn't have to change jDownloader settings. I don't think it was anything to do with jDownloader either, more likely a problem at FS or my end, but it IS odd that the poster on the Filesonic thread was reporting the exact same isssue, I think. This wasn't the normal slight drop; it would have more than halved my downloading ability.

Anyway, seems OK now. Just adding this for general info. May provide some pointers or whatever, even if only to reasure another technophobe like myself.

Because the major file hosters use many servers/ip/datacenters in multiple countries to provide there platform, experience of speed issues does not surprise me one bit, so many variables to take into account. Some servers might be doing little, while others are maxed out. The end user has no control over this (most times). Rapidshare used to multi host files on many different subnets, also gave the ability for users to choose which location to download from! This allows for load balancing when poplar files are downloaded at the same time, but also allowed the user to choose the fastest server for them based on geolocation. But I think those days are long gone.

@diuleeah & abccba

You'll probably need a tool that uses FSe's API, because FSe is blocked in your country. I wouldn't continue paying for such a bad service.

@Fent

Based on the few lines of your log, I recommend to :-

1) Allow java and javaw in your firewall and virus software. Disable (or un-install) the html/web download scanner in your virus software.

2) Reduce the Max. Con. setting (bottom right corner of jD window) to 1. Reset the affected links.

@Hertz33

"Having speed issues?".

Use one connection (Max. Con. = 1) per file and if you've an account download multiple files simultaneously. jD doesn't support dynamic chunking and that's why the speed drops at the end of a download.

thx for the advice, Remi. I've already tried jdownloader, fileserve Manager and MiPony, none works. jdownloader used to work fine until their latest api changed. They just want to prevent all HK ppl from using their service regardless ppl have paid or not b'coz it's easy for HK ppl to get high-speed broadband with unlimited data traffic and that's bad for them.

I had already decided I won't renew my subscription since they blocked the web access but my subscription is still valid until November this year. I had never known such a dishonest company and I hope no more ppl will fall for their scam. If they're located in HK, I'm sure I'll fire a complaint to consumer council

If any of u is considering paying for premium for this company, I'd suggest you think again. You will definitely regret it.

There are a few other countries that have a high speed Internet infrastructure with average speeds that are more than 20 times the average speeds in other countries. I think South Korea, the UK and the Netherlands are among them. Since the Telecom market has been deregulated in the UK you've now more than 400 ISPs fighting for customers. Some monthly subscriptions for a broadband connection are now priced less than Ł4. In the UK some ISPs are also blocking some hosts.
