Default Linux Console Version

Hi,

I would really like to see a Linux console version of this great app.
You web interface is like the best I've already seen, and it works good enough to do all basic tasks.

With a console version I would be able to use a small lightweight Linux box to download my files at night.

grtz,
Kiekeboe100

Fantastic news!

Is it likely to be ncurses based with the ability to use dtach or screen for remote management?

Keep up the good work guys!

Question

Is this Linux console version being actively worked on? If so, is it weeks or months or years away from release?

Knowing this will be a big help in making a hardware replacement decision.

Thanks

jdownloader running in a console is defintly a must have.

but before implementing a ncurses version, which is lots of work, it would be sufficient to be able to run jdownloader in background mode without a GUI.

different steps to run in a console :
1/ install jdownloader on a host with a graphic environment
2/ enable webservice in jdownloader through the gui
3/ move jdownloader directory on the linux host
4/ start jd.sh --daemon, or run it in a screen

or simpler, just run jdownloader through cli and do everything through it : jd.sh --disable-gui --enable-webservices

Any update on this?

I think there's a lot of people with NAS/server devices like me that would really appreciate to run it without GUI.

Would it be possible for now to at least release a version that won't initialize GUI but will keep running and responding to the web interface calls? I'd be able to configure everything on one machine with GUI, enable web interface and then copy onto the server and just run without GUI and use the web interface to download files.

Thanks,
Keep up the good work.

Hi, I have a problem. I would like running Jdownloader without gui. I had proved that and it's not work.

I use jre6-u14. I had enabled webservices and remote control for jdownloader.

Thanks, but "Add Links" tab in webservice don't work in this mode. :-(

we did many internal changes that are neccessary for gui/guiless change...but no further work is done for better webinterface or so, because we have too many things on jd todo list at the moment....

guiless mode is still on our longterm todo list

I did manage so far to get JD running in a console, using Xvfb as X-Server (there is a thread on this, search for Xvfb).
However, I guess the webinterface or remote control have to be enabled to work, and I have no idea how to manage that. I think that maybe tho configuration of JD is in a hsql database, that is loaded on start (in /database), but everything looks crypted and I can't spot specific configurations. Any way to change configuration? Maybe on another host?

why not let jd run inside a vnc session (you dont need a xserver for that) and then can configure jd there and use webinterface for remote

I couldn't find a good howto yet on which vnc on debian etch and running over ssh... I thought vnc always would need X installed (though maybe not the server running)?
