Exclamation New Install & Problem With Download Order

Greetings all!
I've never had this happen before, and I went through the process as I've always done.

I had to do a clean install of Win10x64 and so I always make a copy of my whole JD2 directory. When I re-install the new/current version, I install it to the SAME location (always the root of C with the same folder name), and then I copy over the CFG folder, replacing the existing files - that restores everything tin the Queue list, and everything in the Completed list.

No problem with that - HOWEVER, for some reason, when I add new links to START downloading, they get added to the BOTTOM of the list, not the top!

I have never set the SORT order before, so that shouldn't have changed.

Can anyone help?

Thanks much!

--- DS

What about that icon? It's a setting icon for that toolbar - again, never been touched.

I do not have those options showing.
I have:
Max Chunks per Download
Max Simultaneous Downloads
Max Sim Downloads per Hoster
Speed Limit
Package or Link Properties
Overview Panel Visible
Customize this Bottom Panel

@deathstalker
thats because you're in the download tab and not linkgrabber, different settings for each tab.

Ah! Ok. So now how to I get everything sorted "properly" in the DOWNLOADS tab? Which should basically be the opposite order that it is currently in.

Thanks!

Here is what could maybe help you to "fix" the order in your existing downloadlist:
  1. Rightclick on the column header -> Enable column "Added date"
  2. While pressing and holding CTRL, do one left-click into the "Added date" column.
Do this again to invert the sort.

With this you should be able to invert the order in which all of those items were added.

That still seems to "lock in" Added Date" as the Sorted By Column. Originally, there WAS no Sorted By column.

Also, once a SORTED BY column is "locked in", you can no longer move items up or down - which I could do easily before.

Sorry but I don't understand.
Most likely you one clicked the column without pressing CTRL.
In this case what you see will be a "sorted view" but not a differently sorted download-order.

If you are in a view, the column will be marked yellow and you can't move items.

No, that is what I am saying - right now, NOTHING is clicked and the sort order is REVERSED of what it SHOULD be.

With all due respect, I am not comfortable with that.

I'm not sure how much more clearly I can explain the situation. ALL I want to do, is REVERSE the current SORT ORDER *without* "locking" it in. I can then effectively select ADD AT TOP, and everything will be fine again. I am confused as to why this is so complicated ..... :-(

--- DS

*Understand that, even prior to this, the Sort Order was NOT 100% by Added Date - MANY items were manually moved up & down. JUST sorting by Added Date does NOT resolve the problem in any way. ONLY a complete Top to Bottom REVERSAL of the order will correct the situation.

I also tried switching the GraphicalUserInterfaceSettings: Primary Table Sorter Desc from TRUE (Default) to FALSE, to see if that would "flip" things, but it did not. New Items were always added at the BOTTOM of the LINKGRABBER but the TOP of the DOWNLOADS.

I think we're talking past each other so let's just start from the beginning:

There is two ways to sort:
One will paint the sorted column yellow -> This is a "sorted view" and does not change your download order.
This is what happens if you just left-click into any column.

To do a "real sort" you need to press and hold CTRL and then left-click a column of your choice.
Sorting a column for a 2nd time will reverse the sort order just like it's done in most applications.

A "reverse current order" is not possible as all you can do is to sort by the colums.

If you need this, you will need to write yourself an EventScripter script which reverts the order.

Unfortunately I am neither a programmer/coder, nor a scripter, so I don't understand that code in the slightest :-(

Then ask for help in the EventScripter thread:
