Default Speed Limit

Hi

I have noticed the seguent issue:

when I set the speed limit, the speed downs further the limit, but if I turn off the speed limit, my band returns to full speed.

I checked the speed of my internet connection, and I have 12 MB.

An Example:

If I set the speed limit to OFF, my downloads run @ 12MB,

If I set the speed limit to 10 MB, my downloads run @ 6/8 MB. Why? I should download @ 10 MB...

Please try this in JDownloader 2 and see if you can reproduce your findings. Existing versions of JD have known speed limit bugs to which you're suffering.

JDownloader 2 install instructions and download link http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=37365

I think i'm already using JD2.
(Java 1.7.0_11)

I have tried to set 15 simultaneous download max, and my speed swings between 9MB and 10MB with download speed limit set to 11MB....
I have this problem since yesterday.
But if I return to 3-5 simultaneous downloads,( like I always did without problems) my speed return to 5 MB even if I have set the download speed limit @12MB

If I want download @ 10MB at present I should to set the download speed limit @ 12MB and 15 downloads simultaneous.
Despite that, the download speed is very swinging and it varies from 9MB to 10MB.

Now with 5 download simultaneous and speed limit set to 12MB I downloading @ 3/4MB!!! If I set off the speed limit, my downloads run immediately @ +12MB.

I've have checked JD update, but I have the latest version.

JD Community > English Support > Problems & Bug Reports
[User feedback required] Speed Limit

a) this parent thread isn't for JD2 issues (at least not until JD2 becomes the new stable).
b) As you never stated originally which version I assumed because of 'a'

Thread moved to the correct section.

I know we have some design floors still within speed limiter, though it was rewritten / fixed up since 0.9 and Nightly. Some people are finding that when using the speed limiter it causes significantly higher CPU loads.

My connection (~3mbit) isn't fast enough to notice any issues with limiting. And when I do use this function seems to work to the desired outcome (say limit 50KB/sec to prevent the download finishing before my testing has finished) .

Guess need to wait for Jiaz or Coalado to look into speed limiter components again.

That is something I also recognized with JD2.
Even with lower bandwidth settings:

If I set the speed limit to 1,60 Mb/s, I actually get only about 1 Mb/s

and it looks like the higher the value the higher is the variation...

But this problem started from yesterday!!

I usually set 5 downloads simultaneous max, And I didn't have any problems.

But from yesterday I had to set 15 simultaneous download. If I return to 5 simultaneous download the speed downs to 3\4MB!!!

This can all seem an Host issue,
but if that were so, the speed shouldn't change when I set off the download limit.
If I set 5 simultaneous download and "NO speed limit" I downlaod @ +12MB.....

@raztoki
If you want you can move this 3d into bug session

What can I do? Can I uninstall JD2 e re-install?
Speed limitator doesn't work since friday night.
I used jd2 for 6 months ,I never had this kind of problem and I've always set 5 or less dowloads simultaneous.

Now, if I set off the speed limit I download @ full speed 12MB, but if I set the limit @ 6MB, 8MB, 10MB 12MB , doesnt' matter how the speed I set, I download max @ 4MB.

There are 2 ways to remedy this situation that has being going on since friday,
for download @ full speed I had to:
-set off the speed limit or
-set 15/20 downloads simultaneous.

If I download 2 file.part directly from the browser of my Host I download @ full speed @ 12Mb.
If I download 2 file.part (2 simultaneous download) from JD with the speed limit set to 12MB I download @ 3MB, 150Kb for each download. This is the average speed from JD
There's no problem if I set off the download limit.

Could this related to the chunk bug?

@jento

interesting, must have had some direct relationship with chunking components that changed if what your saying is the case. I'll mark this thread as solved then.
