Can I somehow find out what was downloaded in the past?

In other words: Are the previous downloads somewhere written into history or logfiles?

How can I disable this?

Yes and Yes
1.)Downloaded in the past? You can check the logs folder in log folder
2.) You can disable the logs in Settings-Advanced Settings- search for log size and set size lower than 100 kb and it will no longer create any logs
