Default JD 2 Beta freezes on 'Folder Does Not Exist'

I have recently been having a problem with JD 2 Beta freezing up at random intervals on folder creation in linkgrabber window.

So when merging links and creating a new folder name i get the Box saying 'this folder does not exist', and the option to select 'ok' and create the folder before starting download, or 'cancel' to let the folder be created when download starts.

Now this works fine 49 out of 50 times, but on a regular basis JD will freeze up on this window. After alwas clicking ok before, i have now clicked cancel everytime and i freezes on that selection too.

There is no Logic to when it occurs, it happpens at random.

I then have to force Close JD 2 in Task Manager.

When this happens again, please wait for some secs (30-60) and then close JDownloader normally if possible (eg via MyJDownloader) or kill it, then zip your logs Folder and send it to support@jdownloader.org so we can check what the issue might be

in case you have java jdk installed, then you can start jvisualvm and connect to JDownloader and create a thread dump that shows all threads within JDownloader and can provide additional information about the freeze

got this when creating log

24.03.16 11.07.26 <--> 24.03.16 00.52.06 jdlog://4372842995541/

do you need a local file instead ?

tried searching but could not find log folder.

edit: was also unable to quit jdownloader from myjdownloader, had to kill manually.

The log is full of invalid filenames and those cause *INVALID_DESTINATION" errors. I mean thousands of them and those can cause a very large delay. When you hit stop, it will take a moment when there are that many errors
I've found many other strange errors in your log. I will fix them. Please test again after next core update

Yes, If I deep analyse an entire tumblr thread i will get many names that are too long for download, but there is no Logic that that is causing the make folder freeze error..

The log did not contain any gui freeze. Can you please provide a new logfile when this happens again. Maybe you can install JVisualVM/comes with JDK and with that you can connect to JDownloader and create a thread dump and post it here

Same problem.
Occured several times for me in the last couple of months.
The whole UI freezes ("balloon" popups, Speedgraph, ..) but the window for changing the path still is moveable (without "smearing") but that's it.
The downloader still works fine and ProcessMonitor shows diskwrites and network traffic.

Here is a partial log - the freeze happened at 21:04:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

I only included files that have no private information, the captcha logs are useless but show that those processes still work.
BlockingEDT.log.0 & Gui.log.0 are the complete logs, nothing happened before or after that.
The Log.L.log.0 was truncated to the relevant time and the beginning part.
All other logs had either no entry for that time or were hoster logs, that I will not share.

Did this help in any way?
Because it now crashed again.
There was (like the last time) a clipboard check running at the same time.
Do you want a log for that too or not?

I found a possible cause of this. Please test again with next core update.
In case the gui freezes again, wait at least 10-20 seconds. I only need BlockingEDT.log.0

@zrato: Thanks for the logs. They helped me to identify the cause of this deadlock!

Here is the BlockingEDT.log.0 from earlier:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

This is the complete log. Nothing happened before or after.
What was (if that fixed it) causing this? I'm interested in stuff like that

Update will be available in 5 mins. Please wait and then hit update button and restart

Cause of this in short:
-GUI Thread is within GenericDeleteFromLinkgrabberAction->it requested infos from PackageController (controller that manages packages and their links)-Waiting to enter the queue of PackageController
-PackageController is inside its queue, processing the Merge/Split operation. The method FolderChooser.getDirectory checks for valid folder and in case it does not exist, tries to show up dialog to query user if to create folder or not.
-> deadlock GUI blocks because it needed to enter queue. Queue blocked because it needed to enter GUI to show dialog about non existing folder

Hope this was understandable
