Default JDownloader doesn't Open / Start at all !!

I've been using JDownloader for a while now with relatively low amount of problems. Than yesterday it just totally stopped working.

I double-click on "JDownloader.exe" and get no response.

I downloaded and tried to open a fresh copy of JDownloader - still no response.

I've deleted Java from my XP, tried open JDownloader.exe and got the message that it requires Java runtime environment.

I've downloaded and installed the latest Java (6.12) than double-clicked on "JDownloader.exe" - again no response!

Other free Java based downloads like "Vity's FreeRapid Downloader 0.81" do open and run properly.

Please help me solve this problem. I suspect the key to solving it is simple.
I just lack the experience to solve it by myself.

Regard's
Arjestin.

I've noticed that when I try to open it, JDowenloader shows up in "System Processes" for about 10 seconds. Also for that period CPU usage goes up to 50% then drops back to 0.
So I know it tries to start but fails for some reason.
There is not even the usual splash screen!

What could it be???

:outch:

there's a /logs/ folder ... attach the last modified text file from that folder so we could say more... You may also need a TeamViewer session with supporter, so it would be good you come into our support chat.

I think you meant this file "updateLog.txt" :

{}
http-proxy: disabled
socks-proxy: disabled

Try moving JDownloader directory to c:\JDownloader\ and running it on Administrator account.

Default Clear Type Font

Hi, I don't know the relation but, I figure out that JAVA needs cleartype settings to work properly.

I installed ClearType Tuner from **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** and jdownloader started to work again...

For Me case closed.

Let's Go:

1. Cleartype don't work in Vista, forgot it.
2. Move JDownloader for C:/JDownloader
3. Install this freeware: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
4. Right click on the directory of JDownloader (C:/JDownloader) and choose unlocker to unlock any action of the system.
5. Launch JDownloader now.
6. Good luck and sorry my bad English.

I had the same problem, though I was able to trace my back to a plugin download. I had to go reinstall jdownloader to get it to work.

What's exactly the problem you are referring to? Can you please provide a more substantial problem description?

Cool

1) Did your computer crash? If yes, then your database might be corrupt. Go to next step. If no and you applied all advice in Jiaz' post, then go to step 4).

2) If you have a backup, extract the last one in your jD config folder. Does it work now? If no, then your jD might be corrupt. Go to next step.

3) Download new jD version and extract in c:\jDownloader. Does it work now? If yes, you might retry step 2). If no and you applied all advice in Jiaz' post, then go to next step.

4) Run windows_createlog.bat (I don't know what it's called in other OSs) in your jD folder and paste the log here.

I, too, am having problems running JDownloader with the same symptoms. Clicking on the icon I get a momentary display as if it wants to run but then nothing.

Note, After a first install, it did run successfully. But then after a reboot of my machine, the above problem started.

Running Win7 Ultimate 32 bit.

tried installing then uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Java but no success.

Help!

close jd and rightclick the folder, properties, security and give every user full control. then start jdupdate.jar
also please add java.exe and javaw.exe to the exclude list of your firewall.

if all that does not help, please visit supportchat and we will do a teamviewer.com live session, then i can try to find the cuase for this. (im sure will only take few minutes)
