pref_jre.cfg doesn't work on Mac
There are some posts explaining how to configure which Java to use, by editing pref_jre.cfg. But I tried that on my Mac, and it doesn't work, pref_jre.cfg has no effect. I had to delete the Java that's bundled inside JDownloader, to get it to use a different one.
I have Temurin 19 installed from Homebrew, at the expected location of /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/temurin-19.jdk If I edit /Applications/JDownloader 2/.install4j/pref_jre.cfg and replace "/Applications/JDownloader 2/.install4j/jre.bundle" with "/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/temurin-19.jdk", and start JDownloader, it shows that it's still using the bundled Java 17. I can delete (or rename) /Applications/JDownloader 2/.install4j/jre.bundle and JDownloader will then find and use the other version, even if I don't change the pref_jre.cfg. |
