Default [NOT JD bug] jdownloader crashes

I have been using jdownloader for many years to download many, many files with little or no problems and I thank you very much for that! This just recently started. It seems related to a couple of particular hosts but that may just be coincidence.

Here is the recent problem. I queue up some files to be downloaded and start the queue. Fairly quickly the download stops with the message "Host problems?". The download(s) are stuck and cannot be resumed. If I then go and look at my account panel in the configuration area most (but not all) of my premium account are colored yellow with an error stating "Unknown Error". The only way to clear these states is to completely restart jdownloader.

The hosts that are most frequently associated with this issue are fboom.me and keep2share. If I am not downloading from one or both of these hosts it does not seem to happen.

I have seen individual downloads get in a bad state before but I have never seen it throw multiple premium accounts into an error state.

I can provide screenshots (attached) and an id for some logs I just uploaded - I was not sure if I should post that here. Any assistance on how to troubleshoot is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Your log contains a lot of network issues:
Code:
Exception thrown at jd.http.Browser.openRequestConnection(Browser.java:1733):
org.bouncycastle.crypto.tls.TlsFatalAlertReceived: bad_record_mac(20)
This could also be a hardware issue.

Please check the following:
1. Check your LAN cable. If you're using wireless, try again with a cable. If you're using a cable, use another one.

2. Check your RAM e.g. using memtest86.

3. Make sure that firewall/AV scanner is not blocking JDownloader.

This is NOT a JDownloader issue.

I was a bit put off by being dismissed so quickly. I felt like my original request was not actually read. It was only certain hosts that I was having trouble with in jdownloader. And those hosts worked just fine in other tools and in the browser(s). I use this computer 8-10 hours a day for work on multiple VPN's and networks with no trouble. The issues were with a handful of hosts in jdownloader only.

I let it go as I had other tools I could use. But I like jdownloader. Quite a bit. I've contributed financially a number of times over the years. I would happily pay for jdownloader. It's the best tool of it's type.

I finally got around to looking at this again. I was able to fix the problem by backing up my settings, completely uninstalling jdownloader and removing anything left behind and then reinstalling and re-importing my settings. I've since downloaded multiple files from the previously problem sites with no issue.

I post this in the hopes that it may help someone else someday.

if the removal of JDownloader is also removing its locally provided Java and a new install is providing a newer version of Java it could play any influence, as older Java does have issues with missing cipher support or really poor performance. You can see the Java version JDownloader using in the about window.

JD requests data (crypted or not) via either internal Java apis or in the case of your above post, it was using bouncycastle crypto library (3rd party) into a java socket connection. It would could either imply that your reinstall of JD with old settings was using older Java. Though you where using bouncycastle setting which should be retained when you restored your settings. This is provided by JDownloader and not newer version of Java. Note that bouncy castle library would/should have been the same version old to new install. The only other guess would be your JD was out of date (not confirmed as I don't have access to logs atm), and you had a older library due to not up to date JDownloader.

It might have just been due to how your VPN software (vendor provided)? or do you use standard windows connection methods to these VPNS? I ask this because they do create new network devices which should have an assigned mac address and the error message that psp provided above implied a bad mac address/record. Did your reinstall happen at a different time when the vendor software might have been in a different (session or provider) than previous? or the software updated?

many different reasons very hard to isolate.

@vmyles: Great to hear that you could at least found a working solution to your issue by yourself. Please don't hesitate and contact us again and don't be silent for that long as we thought that the issue was gone

@raztoki: Thanks for taking time to answer more detailed on this topic!
