On previous versions of jdownloader setting the tiktok plugin to API download mode would allow jd to grab tiktoks that have had their sound removed. That no longer seems to be the case.
These videos can still be downloaded using a tiktok downloader site but can't be downloaded with jd.
Is there a way to fix this issue?

Such websites could be caching content which would explain why you can still download that video rthrough a 3rd party online downloader website.

Please provide the following information:
- Name of the website
- More example URLs

Please also check if you can download such items using other open source download applications auch as "yt-dlp".
If that is not the case there won't be any way for us to investigate as such "website downloaders" are typically not open source so there is no way to look into them in order to understand how they work.

Hi again,
regarding the tiktok downloader websites:
- All of them are indeed able to download that deleted video.
- All of them are closed source so there isn't much for me to investigate.
- None of them is returning direct URLs to tiktok servers so I still can't find out whether those videos still come from tiktok servers- or were archived in beforehand by those websites

Then I've also checked yt-dlp and here is my result:
It was unable to download such deleted items.

That doesn't mean anything. Combining a cache with live data is nothing complicated/new.

Again:
As long as we can't look into the source code of the websites there is no way to find out how they're doing it.

Here is what you can do:
- Ask some or all of those website owners how they're obtaining those videos
- and/or: find an open source software which is able to download such videos so we understand how this is possible
