Not full potential of downloading speed
So I'm not sure how to describe it, but I will try my best.
My device specification maybe could play a role so maybe I will mention it here. I'm using JDownloader on my Yoga 2 tablet with 2GB RAM, Windows 8.1, 8GB internal memory free, microsd card slot is quite slow(I think usually 5-10MB/s) while copy files etc. So I've started to download some youtube playlist and channels as an m4a audio and although I usually should have 1-2MB/sec by my LTE sim card inserted in tablet and that the speed I download files with browser, in JDownloader the speed is around 200-800KB for 1-3 seconds at the beginning of downloading and quickly decreasing to ~<50KB I was thinking that maybe the reason could be my device specs, but it seems it's happening regardless of settings of how many files are downloading at one time and on how many parts. When I'm downloading torrents the speed also is normal. I remember that sometimes I got 50KB when downloading by browser many youtube videos and it was happening when I was downloading many files at the same time(not so many, that the sum of the speed would be the maximum speed). I was also thinking that maybe it's my mobile net provider? But then, while I'm having this 50KB in JDownloader, should it be the same in browser(while when I test it, in browser it's full speed)? |

The issue still occurs the same.
It only occurs for the audio(only 128Kb m4a tested) and the 50KB/s is the exact speed I have also when downloading audio by browser not straight from the source but when using some third party website that download already mp3. Shouldn't/isn't JDownloader downloading audio straight from the source? Last edited by davis89; 05.10.2018 at 13:52. |

Does it only affect YT downloads or all other. In case it affects all downloads, it's very likely be caused by throttling by your ISP

It's only for youtube.
By the way, is anywhere explained how the youtube plugin works, as I've asked before - when he downloads audio in most common format now (128KB m4a) is it downloading straight from the youtube? And why when JDownloader finishes the downloading he needs to convert the file? |

Videos are offered in three different formats
1.) Audio/Video in one file, eg mp4, Resume/Chunks supported 2.) DASH, Audio/Video are seperated, Resume/Chunks supported, requires postprocessing to merge Audio/Video back into one file 3.) HLS, Video is split in many many small parts/chunks, Resume/Chunks is NOT supported, might require postprocessing to merge multiple parts back into one file JDownloader does only download and there is no converting taking place. YT limits the downloadspeed to match the required bitrate of the video and that would explain the slow download speed. So either you haven't enabled https://board.jdownloader.org/showpo...52&postcount=2 or YT has disabled this or the video is provided as format 3. Also your ISP might throttle the speed to match the bitrate

Nothing to thank me for. Just answered your questions

@davis89: Does not appear to be HLS. Try increasing the number of chunks. I got ~ 50 KiB/s with 1 chunk, but could download the same file with ~ 1 MiB/s with 20 chunks.

@mgpai: bypass didn't work?

Bypass enabled, but does not seem to have any effect (at least in this case).

Ok, I've tested it again today and it seems the same happens in the browser(speed reduce to 50KB quickly from my max 1MB). It's only for youtube, other files are downloading normal speed.
Changing numer of chunks for example to 10 did only slowed the proces of decreasing the speed from few seconds to maybe 20. I have bypass option on. Last edited by davis89; 06.10.2018 at 04:29. |

@davis89: Existing downloads continue to download with old chunk setting, unless the are reset. Check the "connections" column to find the number of chunks being used to download the file.
Post example link and your log here so that Jiaz can check it. |

Will check on monday. It may be caused by changes of YT or the removal of the bypass or ISP caching server caused. Increasing connections won't help because each connection still will be throttled/limitied to actual required bitrate

These are the download speeds with 2 different settings for the link which I emailed you yesterday.

Yes, but it shouldn't require multiple connections and bypass should work for one

OK. How come the images were deleted? Did I post any objectionable content? Better to have clear guidelines on what we can and cannot post.

It's fine. I don't mind. It is just that if I know beforehand what should not be posted, I will avoid posting them myself than you having to censor the posts.

Yes, the chunk size seems to fix the job as far as it multiplies 50KB x chunks

UPDATE:
The max speed I have now in JDownloader is avg. 130Kb/s, regardless of chunks, downloaded files and sources... |

So why is it Solved if another user has the same problem also me is there any fix or is it a WIP ?
PS: I have ratebypass enabled too and don't know how to set number of chunks other than right click on file properties->max. chunks per download and select a number from the menu which doesn't do anything (even for new files) and they still download with 1 chunk I am downloading max. at 700 KB but my connection is up to 1.85 MB from anywhere else. I also found this on **External links are only visible to Support Staff**reddit the only solution I found was this starting multiple files simultaneously (luckily for me I was downloading a playlist) but what If I was downloading a single file ?
