Default Instagram Plugin Failing | Solution: Use cookie login method

Hi, after setting my Instagram account with Jdownloader 2 I'm getting this error.
Code:
org.appwork.storage.simplejson.ParserException: Illegal Char <!DOCTYPE html><html|
I think is a plugin error, but I'm not sure.

My guess is that you've tried to add your account via username and password.
Trs the cookie login method instead.

I did tried to use the cookie method (after the username and password failed), but when I click "Export cookie data to clipboard" it said something along the lines of "there is no data to export".

So I wasn't able to use that workaround either.

Which addon did you try to use?
Did you navigate to the instagram.com main page before you've tried to export your cookies?
Sounds like an operator error to me...

a. Install the open source addon Flag Cookies (Firefox | Chrome | Opera).
* I did it on Chrome.

b. Visit the website you want JD to login into.
* Instagram.

c. Click on the addons' symbol --> Preferences --> Scroll down until you see the "Export cookie data to clipboard" button from the screenshot below and click on it.
* Got the error "there is no data to export"

@Nyakuya: between b and c, are you logged in at instagram?
website in normal/incognito mode? if incognito, made sure that extension is allowed to work in that mode?

@Nyakuya: try to reinstall the cookie extension, maybe you did not grant permission to access the cookies. As this extension is from 3rd party we're limited in support but it works fine here, so the extension should also work just fine for you. If it fails, then either some other extension causes issues, or the extension is not installed correctly or you're doing something wrong. Maybe you can screenrecord the issue? we can also offer you live help via Teamviewer, just contact us via support@jdownloader.org
Also what chrome version are you using?

@Nyakuya
Instead of "Flag Cookies" you can also try the other addon "EditThisCookie" as described in the initially linked cookie login article.

I fixed it. I will tell you what I did, so if you can, add it to the guide so no other user runs into my problem.

**External links are only visible to Support Staff**...

I opened Chrome, used the "FlagCookies (Firefox, Chrome, Opera)" method and it worked.
After that I was confused as to why it worked now and not before. So I deleted the extension and I installed it again, and again it failed when I clicked "Export cookie data to clipboard".
After I closed Chrome and reopened it, it worked.

So please, after the step "a. Install the open source addon Flag Cookies (Firefox | Chrome | Opera)." add "close your browser and reopen it".

Thank you for the assistance.

Well, in the middle of individual image crawling, JD stopped with the No valid account found! message on the links I had grabbed.

So, I went to my account manager and saw this under the status field.

I have never seen that before. It's always Account is ok: Free Account and nothing else.

I was able to reproduce this issue.
It looks loke a possible bug in the FlagCookies addon.
Thanks for your detailed feedback!
I've rteported this to the developer of FlagCookies and I've also temporarily updated our instructions and added the hint to restart the browser after the installation of that addon is complete.

@TexasDude
Please re-read this thread and try again using the cookie login method as described here:

I did this last week. After one day, my cookies were invalid and needed to do it again. Is there a workaround so that they last more than a day?

Keep in mind, I'm kind of a noob at some of this. Also, I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt.

For me they're working more than one day.
Maybe you forgot to set the "Keep session" checkbox aftere logging in via browser?
Also it is possible that Instagram limits the cookie validity based on the used browser so here is what you can try:
1. Make sure you check that "Remember me" (or similar) checkbox when logging in into your IG account via browser.
2. Use Chrome instead of Firefox or vice-versa.
3. Use FlagCookies Addon instead of EditThisCookie or vice-versa.

@Nyakuya
The developer of the "FlagCookies" addon has fixed the issue in addon version 3.1.9.
I did report it in the ngb.to german forum FlagCookies support thread:
ngb.to/threads/addon-ff-gc-o-flagcookies.32496/post-1204075

Thanks for reporting the issue and thanks to the addon developer for quickly fixing it.

Yesterday, I was able to grab IG links. I'll bookmark this post of yours to fall back on in the future.

And yes, I use a Chrome-based browser and FlagCookies.

I know.
What I ment with my last post is:
Maybe try with cookies exported from a Firefox next time maybe for some reason IG makes those last longer though my Chrome cookies never expired until I changed my IG password
