The issue is bigger than JD - even their own program, FileServe Manager, has issues downloading - cannot confirm premium membership or download with the program. Hopefully FileServe will fix it soon.

I know I said it already, but I can't agree more with ramiy, if they don't want to help the situation, why should any of us pay for an account we can't even use properly?

agree with Rich, ramiy & Bags, JD says 'Disconnect and wait', Fileserve's own downloader sucks, does not seem to authenticate. Had a problem like this with rapidshare long ago, called them and they were gracious enough to extend the account by a week. Fileserve should do something like this or give us our money back...

what's going on there @ FS? this FS guy at wjunction says "there is nothing wrong with FS".. "use FS manager, idm" .. "we didn't write JD".. blah blah

as far as they're denying FS problem, the only thing is that they are somehow not happy with JD. so they do not give a damn if there are lots of people using JD&FS

it would really sad to switch from JD to IDM or Filserve manager because of this problem.

I really hope that in some way the problem is fixed in a reasonable time...otherwise I will be forced to change my manager.

sigh :(

Jdownloader is working with FS again. Looks like they fixed whatever problem they had. Hopefully it will stay this way.

FServe is working again and there were no updates of jD - it proves that the problems were at the fileserve side.

Well we kinda knew that, didn't we? The JD devs wouldn't lie because they have no reason to. They developed and maintain Jdownloader for free for our benefit with no vested interests. Kudos to them.

Interesting. Usually the participants in open source development (programmers, HMI experts, requirements analysts, architects, supporters, translators, project managers, etc.) all have some vested interest in seeing a product succeed.

Can you please explain your statement? If you use a definition of this concept other than the one given by communication theory in "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vested_interest" please refer to it.

Its simple really. Some developers develop programs for money. There are others that develop free programs with the intention of making money from ads or trialware or by some other means (i.e. they have a vested interest; Google is fine example of this).
And then there are devs who develop programs for free for the community without any intention of making money off it. I happen to think Jdownloader falls in the last category much like the linux and firefox developers or so it seems for now. What may happen in future I can't predict. Correct me if I am wrong though.

And please don't point to the dictionary. We all know what a term is usually used to mean even though the official definition may be something else.
