Hell jungle, endless boiling water. Two colors of yellow and green. Swollen from mosquito weather. At the tunnel a loud, smoky, you can now download more porn video:lol: (joke)

Seriously, guys. Is it worth to udpate - or will it just spoil my pc, as one poorly written VB6 program once did?

I would prefer a list. Time is not enough for downloading everything and testing it.

At least you could publish the things you have written above.

The program is well-written, just need to know how to use it.

There are opinions that the program heavy because it is written in Java.

Well, if you published it before, some more people would try it.

who care's about bytecode? it must be api compatible and many api got changed/added in 1.7.
we try our best to keep it 1.6 runtime compatible. to compile it you already need 1.7

bytecode != api

bytecode = java 1.6 runtime can start it
api = java 1.6 provides all needed api

jd is compiled on 1.6 bytecode
jd uses java 1.7 functions where needed, but keeps 1.6 compatibility

How much would it take you to make it more or less stable?

I assume you mean how long until it is considered worthy as a stable release.

I'd say a couple months, if not longer. It really depends on how quickly the finishing touches and issues are applied/resolved.

But its stable to use, as it's been built on existing jdownloaders with multiple years of rewrites from the previous stable release (0.9.581 last09), and over a year for nightly. It's lacking GUI refinement (more than anything), but it's usable if your looking for an alternative, just without all the fruit.

Not really. It has serious bugs preventing normal work. I.e. reconnect doesn't work, files are not downloaded for unknown reason.

reconnect does work, and files do download. If you have any substantiated error reports please make error reports accordingly. Please do not make careless statements which you haven't backed up with any proof. Developers use this version to develop plugins so it needs to work. Plugins should behave universally so if they work in stable they should work in nightly and JD2. There are many plugins which have JD2 dependences like RTMP plugins or the newer multihoster plugins.
