I tried hard to find a thread with that issue, but I didn't find anything. I'm sorry if that was reported before.

Summary: Can't download non-public videos from Facebook.
Description: I can't download any non-public video from Facebook. I'm logged in to my FB account in JDownloader and the account is enabled. The link grabber detects the video just fine, but JD fails to download the video (error: can't find the file). Public videos download fine. Here is the log: 16.08.20 13.58.12 <--> 16.08.20 14.00.51 jdlog://0299125302851/
Steps to reproduce:
1. Login to your Facebook account in JD Facebook plugin. Make sure that the account is enabled.
2. Go to your Facebook through a browser. Find any non-public video that you can play through your browser - I used a video from a private group that I'm a member of.
3. Right click the video, click "Show video URL" and copy that URL to clipboard.
4. JD2 link grabber should show that it found a file and that the file is available.
5. Proceed to download the file in JD.
Expected result: The private video should download, using provided Facebook account credentials.
Actual result: JDownloader shows a download error - file not found.
Platform: Windows 10 x64
JDownloader2 compilation date: Sat Aug 15 10:02:41 CEST 2020.

Any help on that one would be appreciated.

Hm according to your log there might be a login/cookie issue.
... but without the ability to test with such a private video, I won't be able to help you.

Here are your options:
1. Send me your Facebook login credentials via PN.
or
2. Send me a private FB video which either only I can view or which can in general only be viewed when logged-IN.

He won't be able to tell you and I had to change the code if our plugin to make this work.
First of all:
If an account is rquired to watch it, you will have to add your Facebook account to JD first - without doing this, it cannot work!

Here are your options:
- Send me the link to that video and make sure that I'm able to access it so I can try to update our plugin so it can handle that
OR:
- Send me the link to the video and your Facebook login credentials so I can try to update our plugin so it can handle that
OR:
- Try to download the video using this method

Thanks for your promptly reply.
I added my facebook account to Jd vis the "export cookie method" indicated by the JD support page. The account says verified and unlimited. The problem is as the one that gleniu had, onece i copy the link to the PRIVATE video, JD says "file not found"

Vidieodownload helper doesn't seems to detect the video.

I will send you the link and credentials via PM but take into account that this is only one of the videos that I want to download from the same PRIVATE GROUP.

Thanks for the URL and login credentials.

I've looked into it and I wasn't able to find any stream version that had video + audio alltogether meaning in theory we could download video- or audio only but not both in this case.
Sorry.
Other videos, especially public ones, may still work just fine.

Their html code contains the .mp4 streams for video- and audio.
You should be able to download those, maybe even using JD.
You then need to manually merge audio & video into one file.
I don't see any other possibility at this moment ...

I am having the same issue. Cannot download video from a group. I followed ALL instructions in this thread and AM logged in with the Facebook plugin but still says "file not found" despite originally saying that it was online.

Hi,
some videos may be un-downloadable via JD (see board search).
If you want me to check yours in particular, please send them to me via PN but I either need access to the videos or to your FB account.

If neither of both options are possible, you can try to use this method to download the videos.

Facebook login issues should be fixed and all FB videos should be downloadable.
Some might not be available in the highest quality via JD - see above linked ticket.

As of yesterday/day before, it seems JD will no longer download "private" FB videos. (It's still working fine for public videos and I didn't have problems with private videos 3 days ago.)

* I'm using the latest version of JD
* JD has me logged in to my account through the cookie login and displays a valid account
* The private video is detected by JD
* Upon trying to start the download, JD returns an error: "Skipped - account is missing"

I'm not sure if providing an example link is of any help to you (most likely you're not subscribed to the same private page and can't use the link then)? As far as I can tell, the problem exists for all "private" videos and I'm guessing FB changed something on their end recently.

Also in case that does not help us fix it, consider uploading a dummy video and to a dummy group and setting that to private.
I got a Facebook test-account we can use for such tests...

I've tried that and it doesn't appear to solve the issue.

This is where it gets bizarre:

One strange thing I've noticed is that I can still (re)download "older" private videos ("older" meaning uploaded and downloaded on May 2, 2022 or earlier). So if I have a link to a finished download and "reset" it, JD will re-download the video successfully.

However, if I create a new link for the *same* video via CTRL-C on the corresponding FB video page, the resulting link won't download.

JD also handles the naming of the video file differently in these cases:

resetting the link, the video file is named 2022-04-06_UploaderUserName_6850412345.mp4 (and downloads successfully)

creating a new link, the video is named
UploaderUserName_6850412345.mp4 (and won't download)

Creating a download for a new *public* video (uploaded today) yields the filename
2022-05-05_UploaderUserName_1234567890.mp4 and downloads successfully.

It looks like the missing date in the filename of a private video for is causing a problem (somehow).

@psp: I will try to generate a log in the evening (after work). I will also try to set up a test group with a dummy video (haven't set up any FB groups previously, so I need a bit of time).

The missing date is not the problem - it is still unclear to me if that bug was caused by a serverside change of Facebook or our recent plugin changes.
Regarding re-downloadable older items:
Easy explanation:
Our Facebook plugin saves the detected direct-URLs so as long as those are valid you will be able to re-download older entries
This is done to reduce the required number of requests and to speed-up linkchecks/download-starts.

I've created a log file - first time, I hope I did everything right.

Allow me to describe in plain English what I did:
I created download links for 2 private videos and then also for 1 public video. I then asked JD to download these three items. The private ones failed, the public video finished successfully.

I'm also having the same issue at the moment, exported cookies and everything like so in the instructions but getting an error when downloading private videos. Can anything be done?
