Default Renaming illegal characters in filename

Hello.
Would it be possible to specify alternates for illegal characters instead of them being automatically replaced by the underscore character.
For example / for /,?for ? and the like.

At the moment there is a hardcoded list in use, that contains all known forbidden characters

I didn't find time yet to work on this ticket

Yeah. I'd like a better idea of what was in the filename and so replace illegal characters with their unicode alternatives.
