Got my JD2 updated.
It solved most of the problems.
I would like to thank the JD Support Team for the tremendous amount of work.
Special thanks to dear Jiaz, tony2long, raztoki and pspzockerscene
Sincere Respects...

But some problems are still persisting.
e.g.
JD2 is often unable to get the file size on linkgrabber.
The file size is appearing only upon commencing the downloads.

The links for those pdf files that don't show file size are direct links.
With the method that we use to get the file size, it's not possible to get it (not available).
Content-Disposition: attachment;filename=.....
So sorry.

Default The Possible Way Out

First of all,
full credit to tony2long for fixing this plugin; and big thanks for offering to have an elaborate discussion on this. I will be quoting some portion of the private discussion that we had earlier for the ease of reference. Hope, you'd be okay with that.

Tony suggested that I should have this discussion in the open board, instead of private messages. That certainly makes sense. So, I would carry over the discussion here.

@tony,
Bro, I have full confidence in you. There was nothing about a 'second opinion', you words are ENOUGH! But, I am still optimistic about making it possible. That's why I would like to discuss with you on some other ways of getting the file size, before downloading.

@other users,
Earlier I and tony were discussing about an observation that two sets of Google Drive links of similar pattern were behaving differently, some providing their file size, while the others were not. Both the sets have a similar URL pattern:
"https ://**External links are only visible to Support Staff**drive.google.com/open?id={STRING}"

tony clarified the issue quite nicely. I was an issue related to the Google's In-built DOC/PDF viewer. When, it was unable to view a document, it prompts users to 'Download' the content. That is when, the file sizes became evident.

Response that JD get:
First group: Content-Type: application, no size
Second group: Content-Type: text/html, the size is inside html

I would like to thank tony once again for the extra effort he has put in to get this plugin into action.

Default The Possible Way Out

The Possible Way Out

I have spent some time to figure out if there was an option to get the file size before downloading, and I think, I have good news for my fellow JDers.
It was all about bypassing the default Google DOC viewer and modifying the link as a 'Download' link (instead of a 'view' link). The key hides in editing the link in the following way.

Amit of Digital Inspiration and Jane Vestil of AppsEvents found a way to skip the web viewer and allow users to download a file automatically. Although, it was a 2014 thing, it still works 100% fine.

Quote:
Currently, Google Drive doesn’t have an easy option to generate direct links through the web UI. To do this, you simply need to edit the URL generated based on the patterns below.

Typical share URL looks like this:
https ://**External links are only visible to Support Staff**drive.google.com/open?id={STRING}
OR
https ://**External links are only visible to Support Staff**drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/edit?usp={STRING}

Direct download link equivalent:
https ://**External links are only visible to Support Staff**drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=FILE_ID

As you can see, you only need to note of the FILE_ID. Note that the above URL pattern is for creating direct links to file formats with no Google Drive equivalent such as image and audio files.

P.S.:

The suggested URL replacement method
https ://**External links are only visible to Support Staff**drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id={STRING}
may be used ONLY for querying the file size on link grabber.

The download can happen the current/usual way (i.e. from the original link).
That can save from the speed throttling.

Default The Puzzle of 25

Tony also pointed out that
some download links behave differently:
(a) For
links to file > 25 MB, are not supported by Google's antivirus system for scanning.
Hence appears the Warning Screen saying "Google Drive can't scan this file for viruses." followed by "Download Anyway" button,
This is when the attachment size becomes decipherable.
example:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff**

(b) But, in case of
links to file < 25 MB, the warning screen doesn't appear & the file starts downloading immediately. This is why file size doesn't become evident, until actually downloading the file. I tested with IDM and other downloaders, none seem to be able to get the filesize until the download finishes.
example:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Quote:
But, there seems to be a fix to this:
Just discovered that modifying these URLs in the following way does the trick:

1. Trim the unnecessary: "&export=download"
2. Add "/edit"
The URL would look like this:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Bingo! A warning screen appears saying: "No preview available" followed by a "Download" button. I guess, you can have the filesize from there.

It did the trick for EPUB files, but, I am yet to figure out, if this trick would work for PDF < 25 MB
I will check & report.

Edit: Unfortunately, this didn't work. The Download Page doesn't announce any reference to the file size in the HTML code.

Thanks @tony for correcting me,,,

One final brute-force way could be to get the file size is from the terminal download link (raw file link) embedded under the "Download Button".

But, I think JDownloader doesn't like to use this option on LinkGrabber as this could lead to several issues while downloading the file.
Edit: Now I realize that this is perhaps not possible.

Google Drive / Doc links come in so many confusingly distinct patterns, that its mind-bending to make all of them work properly.

For example:
The Google Drive folder links can mimic file links:
Spoiler:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

looks pretty much like a simple file link, but actually redirects to a complex folder
Spoiler:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

containing subfolders and files.

The LinkGrabber might need some modification to list all of its contents.

@DJwa163
1. You are wrong - the filesize is only easily visible for actual "files" (especially NOT videos).

2. But yes, there was an issue with folders - tony and me fixed it.
