Similar problems have been observed with all the version of jD. I think there is a bug tracker item about this issue.

What's your OS/version? In my OS it only spends 20-25 MB.

host = hosts files
decrypter = decrypts encrypted links

I'm confused, I filled out the survey and got this: (see bold)

Thanks fly out to the pidgin team - we really liked their survey style and admittedly forked it. Thank you guys!

Your survey responses have not been recorded. This survey is not yet active.
Does this mean I should fill it out again?

This is in the buglist already.

I take it you have stopped time traveling.

You know guys, this could be my catchphrase (having this nickname means responsibility :-) ), but it's almost 2015 and where are hovering skateboards I ask.

People demand machines that control weather etc.

I have Win XP SP2. Yes, when I start it, it takes about 70MB, but when I let it for let's say two days in a row, downloading from multiple hosters, it can accumulate up to 350MB (my max). Now, after day of downloading, it is 170MB of memory + 180MB of virtual memory (task manager).

To the survey problem: Yes, I too enjoy this BACK feature often. This happened because I started completing survey and then let it be for let's say hour or two. Then I returned back to it (first I couldn't think about anything to fill last page forms), so I submitted it and ...

you know the rest. Your survey was not recorded. So I backed, CTLR+X, CTRL+V to the new one.

But I'm so glad. I'm using JD since September 2008, then, it was quite buggy app, but still, the best around here. Now, it's king. And one hardly realize how many bugs, errors and bad things has been fixed as months progressed. This mouse bug is annoying, but can get used to it.

Do you remember the bug, when you selected few files, reached the bottom of page and ... nothing happened, screen was stuck. Well, not stuck, but didn't want to move. It's fixed now. It was very, very annoying.

I tried 3 times and couldn't get my survey responses recorded. It seams now the survey is closed (too many responses?). Here's my 3 writen answers on the last page anyway:

Add ZIP support in a addon similar to the RAR support already in the program (automatically unzip, test for extraction Ok and erase source file).
_______________________________________________________________________
I believe it's most likely to blame on the JAVA library used, more than the program itself, but I feel that the speed and the use of CPU cycles when doing nothing but downloading a single file can still get a lot better. My system get very sluggish sometimes and as soon as I restart JDownloader, that is gone (at least for a while).

I love the program. It's a great work and it is getting better over time. The support team is also fantastic. I just hope you add ZIP file support (not only RAR) and make it lighter on my CPU.

I think if you switch off automatic captcha recognition, then CPU cycle consumption will stay low.

Zip support will come with the planned 7-Zip integration (use board search).

Like most (all?) users, I had to fill out the form multiple times. If the session is going to be timed there should be a timer on the page

I have no complaints about the program. I've been using it for at least 6 months and it's by far the best program of it's type hands down.

My only qualm is with the how the program handles Rapidshare downloads. It's not that JDownloader doesn't do it extremely well, just that the speed seems faster when I use another program (Rapidshare Dowloader [by Russell Joyce from dedicatedtv.net]). Do you know if there are any major differences between the two programs in how they handle RS downloads?

Thank you for your fine work. Not only is Jdownloader the best multi-host downloader, but your interaction with the community is exceptional.

[Edit: My sys specs: OS: Win Xp (sp3), ISP 15000/500 kps, Non-premium RS user.]

It's possible that the other program has to be configured or that it's blocked by a security program. Please, also read the statistics section in Having speed issues ? read this!

Great Software ! With the downfall of RapGet I was looking for some new software. I tried just FlashGot but it never performed as well as I liked. Seemed to download 7K files instead of the full 100 Meg more times than I liked.

Regardless.

I liked your software so much I threw in a €10.00 EUR PayPal contribution
Keep up the good work.

This is a typical problem of information overload. Would it be possible to make the raw results available (in a database or XML format)?

Maybe, someone with a statistical/analytical background can summarise the results of the survey.

Who'll ever want to participate in the next survey if they know that they'll never see the results of it?

If the problem is privacy, then just make the survey inputs anonymous. Take away names, identifiers, IP and other addresses, usw.

If the problem is that the jD Team members have other priorities, just compress the survey inputs and send it to volunteers who can structure and analyse the data. This is called outsourcing.

Another month has passed...what's your definition of "soon"?

Here is Merriam-Webster's :-

Quote:
Main Entry: soon
Pronunciation: \ˈsün, especially New England ˈsu̇n\
Function: adverb
Etymology: Middle English soone, from Old English sōna; akin to Old High German sān immediately
Date: before 12th century

1 a obsolete : at once : immediately b : without undue time lapse : before long <soon after sunrise>
2 : in a prompt manner : speedily <as soon as possible> <the sooner the better> <no sooner said than done>
3 archaic : before the usual time
4 : in agreement with one's choice or preference : willingly <I'd just as soon walk as drive>

I think "soon" now means after the next release.

Why do you think I created an open poll? about user priorities?

By the way, it is now moved to General Discussion.

Sorry for the delay. I will prepare and release the results as soon as there is enough time.

I couldn't find a forum thread with the survey results.
Did you publish it?
If yes, where?

Yes, some results have been published and after some searching I found them. They were published in this thread but mistakenly moved to another, unrelated thread by drbits.

See Messages about timing of next release (and so on) moved to a new thread.
